Eeeeee! 3 months! This month, Posey's little personality really started to shine. She is such a happy baby! Her first giggle came this month(at the mall after having her picture taken with Santa, pushing her around in her stroller, fast asleep & just giggling away! Must have been one funny dream!), along with a much less adorable milestone... the THUMB SUCKING. I know, I know... it's KIND OF adorable, but it's not a habit I am personally interested in her picking up. [I feel like I am going to get some back lash over this comment- seems like people are either very left or very right on this topic. If you're all pro-thumb sucking- wonderful! I support you in that! It's okay for us to have different feelings on it and still be friends!] ANYWAY, she is fighting the good fight and just SO determined to win. Like her Mama! Her eyes are turning from baby color blue-grey to bright blue like her Daddy! (She looks just like him!) She has begun swatting at her toys hanging from her play mat & doing a little "talking" to them as well. So cute! The Christmas season has been SO sweet & magical this year with our sweet girl here! Even though she doesn't necessarily know what is going on, we are going all out to show her what Christmas is all about.(She even picked her first name off of the giving tree & we purchased her some gifts for a little girl whose family is having a hard time- a tradition we will partake in every year.) I just fall more in love with this sweet soul every single day! Here we go... on to month 4! (This parenting stuff is SO bittersweet!)

The Year of Posey Jane: Month 2
2 months! Oh my goodness, what a month it has been! Posey did LOTS of growing and has gained 3lbs 7oz since last month! This month brought on her first purposeful smiles & now she is just smiling all the time! You don't have to work too hard with this one... she can't hide her happy! We did hit a little bump in the road at 6 weeks when I realized she was suffering with acid reflux. Luckily, I was very aware of the symptoms & was able to get her the medication and formula she needed to make her feel better quickly. She is becoming very obsessed with her Mama & I can't say that I hate it, y'all. There is nothing like your sweet baby smiling every time they see you & following your every move with their little eyes! (Adorable now, not so adorable when she can walk and talk, right? ha!) She now wakes up every 3 hours to eat, but luckily she isn't one to stay awake and play... she goes right back to sleep. Me, on the other hand, not always successful with that! I sure do LOVE this baby! On to month three (insert mommy crying face here)...

The Year Of Posey Jane: Month 1
My tiny doll is 1 month old! I cannot accurately describe this last month & do it justice. The first month of motherhood is just something you have to live through to understand. I hated hearing this when I was pregnant, because as a stay at home Aunt, I felt VERY prepared for what was to come. And in most ways, I was. The baby stuff, I had down. I can take care of this baby with my eyes closed and my hands tied behind my back. What I wasn't prepared for were the OVERWHELMING hormones and the emotions that came along with them. Holy holy hormones. I cried for seemingly no reason for several days & wanted only my Mom & Husband around. Nobody really warns you about your hormones going crazy AFTER you have the baby.
My girl, however, she is pure sweetness. She loves to eat and has gained 1lb 9oz since we brought her home. She wakes up every two hours to eat, which IS NOT ideal, but she is a tiny girl who is trying to grow. This first month we had to do several weight checks and she always surpassed her 1oz a day goal! We dealt with a very jaundiced baby for a couple of weeks. It took longer than we'd have liked to correct (we had to use the at home bili-blanket for 6 days to reduce her bilirubin levels & have her levels tested every other day), but we were so glad to not have to admit her back into the hospital for treatment. Praise God for that! In some ways I feel as though she was born, I blinked and BOOM a month went by and in other ways I feel like this month has gone by slowly because I feel like I have known this little girl forever. She is an absolute doll & we are loving every moment with her!
