Poor boy can't pronounce Po-Boy

Who?  MR & I
What?  Oak Street Po-Boy Festival
When? November 13, 2011
Where?  New Orleans, Louisiana
Why?  Because Po-boys are delicious, that's why!

Just in case you're from some alternate(and very sad) universe where good food is most often enjoyed in your dreams:  A po-boy is a traditional submarine sandwich from Louisiana.  Don't call it a poor boy or I will laugh at you... I promise. It almost always consists of meat(often roast) or seafood(usually fried) served on baguette-like New Orleans French bread, known for its crisp crust and fluffy center.

Soft shell crab po-boy with sriracha mayo... I'm drooling just thinking about it!
MR and I split everything so we could try a few things... the way to go, for sure!
I never would have been able to choose just 1!
We tried an oyster rockefeller po-boy, a shrimp remoulade po-boy and a soft shell crab po-boy.
Hubigs Pies.  A staple here in New Orleans!  My favorite is cherry, but you can't always find those, so apple is a happy fall back.
Second lining down Oak Street
Blue Plate Mayonnaise was one of the sponsors at the fest and they had a "Blue Plate Pong" game set up.  MR won a year's worth of mayo...
but opted for a tee instead!
The Grinch who stole Po-boy fest.  Hehe ;) Seriously, that look was permanent... she wasn't just giving me the stink eye.

A perfectly delicious day with my love!  I'm aready looking forward to going again next year!

I posted this without a title... and it was weird.

Mardi Gras was a whirlwind!  We attended parades every weekend & squeezed as much fun out of it as we could... ya know, until we literally couldn't handle any more.
Pictures for your viewing pleasure:
I did a little vandalistic advertising in Pat O's back in November & when we went back to check if it was still there, my little sticker was hangin' tough! yay free advertising :)
Hands off ladies, this stud is ALL mine
If ever I join the Krewe of Mona Lisa Moon Pie, I MUST wear a costume like this! Love it so :)
Roller girls
Another weekend, another stop at Pat O's, of course!
Who doesn't love a 3 story gorilla that is meant to throw your beads at?
Do you see the man at the top dangling that bead?
Yeah... him.  He was pointing to MR who was repeatedly shouting(i won't say what... b/c I'm a lady, y'all) at him.
He finally got that darn bead! (Classic tourist pic!)
Oh, Mardi Gras... how I love you!
MR's friend P & I capture a snuggle.  He likes to play like he is going to steal me away & MR plays like he is angry...
See?  This is after one too many "Lacey & P sitting in a tree" pics was taken :)  He took all of the pictures though, ha
& These people, who are not me or MR are my very cute parents!  A Voodoo doll & Witch Doctor!  They crack me up!

Have I ever told you how much I LOVE New Orleans & how much I love living here?
What a great city!

Lacey Appreciation Day

The weather here the last few weeks has been very cold & therefore, much of my time lately has been spent indoors. Maybe that has something to do with my downer attitude & anxiety lately?
Sooo, last weekend MR decided I needed a field trip. He declared it Lacey Appreciation Day, scooped me up & we headed into the city to play.
[maybe I mentioned there should be a national lacey appreciation day at some point... maybe not? ;)]

We strolled through the French Market,
where we grabbed a sweet vintage goody for my bff's birthday

We stopped in to the cigar factory & watched as men hand rolled cigars! MR bought his Dad a couple :)

We popped in a little shop called Red Lantern & got MR a pair of cute socks!

We went to Crescent City Brew House & had a yummy lunch and did a beer tasting!

& When we got home, MR gave me a Lacey Appreciation Day gift!
& I'm in love!
[with the hottie above & with the gift]
[it was an additional Christmas gift he had ordered but wasn't going to come in for Christmas... hence, 'Lacey Appreciation Day' when it came in. He totally overdid it with Christmas, so the little break between gifts was good! Plus... just because gifts are the BEST!]

It was such a wonderful day & filled my brain with happy, positive thoughts!

[feel free to send a link to this post to your man... I believe the title should be "fill in your name here appreciation day" ;)]

NFL Kickoff Date Day

Last Thursday, the MR. & I headed into the city(new orleans) for the NFL kickoff & Saints game.
We signed up to get tickets for the free Dave Matthew's Band & Taylor Swift show, and whatdayaknow, we got them. So off we were on our little Thursday outting.
We grabbed a 'It's noon on a Thursday & I'm drinking beer' and took a stroll.
Yep, you can do that here. The city wasn't overly crowded yet & we were able to just enjoy it & not worry about losing one another in the craziness. We had lunch and drinks & before we knew it, it was time to head over to Jackson Square where the concert was being held.
4pm
5pm
6pm
thank goodness we made our way to the front pretty early on

DMB came on an hour and a half early to play a mini-concert for everyone.
They were only commissioned to play 2 songs for TV.
[See Dave on the big screen behind my hand?)
The parade rolled through & the TV concert portion began
[MR was having a hard time keeping his eyes open in pictures, and this is what I got when I asked if he could kindly keep them open for at least ONE picture)
Taylor Swift came out looking adorable as always. If you watched it on TV, it probably looked a little more magical than it did in person. She was precious, but the performance was lack luster.
I still like her though :)
However, i would like to see her in something besides a silver dress. She wears A LOT of silver dresses, right?

Then DMB came back out and tore it up. It was crazy good.
(once again, MR's eyes are half open:))
So glad we went! There are few other ways that I'd want to spend a Thursday :)
