The Telephone Game

Let me tell you something I've probably never told you before...
I am not a phone person.
My personality doesn't exactly dazzle on the phone. I guess I just feel like usually what's gone on in my day isn't worthy of picking up the phone to gab about. I used to enjoy it when I was younger... but who didn't? Junior High and High School? Oh, I could talk it up with the best of them.
I lost the gossip bug my 1st year of college, so there goes that phone convo opportunity!
Don't get me wrong, there are certain times when I could talk for an hour... but day to day? Nuh Ugh. So, whatever. Don't talk on the phone unless I have something to talk about, right?
Well, alright!
But what about with WG? We just started dating, but we've covered alot of bases as far as, "getting to know you", goes. Speaking of: Your questions for me to ask him... I already know the answers! He likes Sopranos, Entourage, golf, hunting, Milk Duds, LOVES his Mom and is not at all a slob. Bing, bang, boom! So what do we talk about ? He usually calls a few times a day to touch base and say hello and I feel like I never have anything to say! Nothing that's super interesting anyway!  Our conversation while trying to get off of the phone tonight... Me: "Are you going to sleep soon?" Him: "Yeahhh." Me: "Alright, well I guess I'll let you go so you can get to sleep." Him: "Well, okay...?" Me: After the longest pause ever, "Uhm, okay- goodnight."
I am awkward, and that's that.

Lacey circa 2012 says:  He turned out to love his mom a little TOO much, was the biggest. slob. ever. and loved the couch more than golf and hunting.  Looking back, he was what I needed.  An escape from the guy I was in love with.  He gave me the time away from my ex to fall out of love.  For that, I appreciate him.

12 love notes:

  1. I have to agree - I totally suck at the phone thing. I hate when I have to call people I don't know too. Like if I have to call a company about a job interview or whatever, ugh I hate that.

I would much rather text or email lol.

    Like your musical monday picks!

  2. I think it's something that most people lose when they get older.
I used to gab up a storm on the phone when I was school, but nowadays, I don't ever want to talk.

  3. I'm with ya...I don't like to talk on the phone at all. I don't answer the phone if I don't feel like talking...which is a lot (I do return calls!) :-) I don't even know why I have a cell phone at all!

  4. I hate, hate, HATE talking on the phone. The only time I have a lengthy conversation is when I call my dad and we're talking about all the stupid things fellow family members are doing or when my husband is deployed.
My phone was bought basically so I could have internet access when I'm not near a computer and so I can get emails straight to my phone <3!

  5. I'm with you on the phone thing! I'd much rather email or text. I always screen my phone calls so I can avoid long talkers!! :)

  6. I have no advice for you because I am chatty. I love talking on the phone! Hubs on the other hand, not so much.

  7. First of all, love the songs you picked this week!

And does WG know that you're not a big fan of the phone? Just him knowing that should alleviate some of the awkwardness...? It's cute that he calls you to check in--it's okay to share the little details that are really meaningless--sometimes sharing them makes life meaningful!

  8. There are only about three people that I can talk for endless hours on the phone with. The rest of the world gets the short-n-sweet phone convos. I'm like you. I just don't have that much to say on the phone. I missed you! Your new layout is precious!!!

  9. I'm much more of an in-person kinda gal... the phone just annoys me and takes my attention away from other things. :)

  11. I'm definitely not a phone person, even to my best friends. We talk more directly or through blackberry messenger / instant messenger but never on the phone. I usually get bored after a few minutes and don't know what to say :P

  12. So funny... I could talk for HOURS about nothing in high school, but now I loathe even having to be on the phone for 5 minutes.

You've always been my favorite... don't tell the others!
