Friday night you took me to dinner at the same restaurant we had visited for our first dinner date; A place that is set back in the woods on the bayou with twinkle lights strung about. You held my hand and we talked, laughed and people watched like always. At the end of the meal you asked if I wanted to walk down to the dock and have a drink, as we always do when we are at this particular restaurant. As we made our way down the boardwalk to the dock, you guided me in the opposite direction than I was headed and that's when my eyes made contact with a table that was different than the rest. A table that had linens, a vase full of my favorite flowers, candles and a present wrapped in simple brown shipping paper.
"For Lacey, Love MR", it read.
Inside was an album with photos of us splashed on the pages.
When I came to the last page there was a photo of a beautiful ring that had only ever existed in my brain.
The thoughts entering my brain were swirling and then I looked up and you were down on your knee.
You said so many sweet words and told me how much you loved me and then you asked if I would spend the rest of my life with you. Remember that part? That part was my favorite.
You slipped that pretty ring on my finger and then I dropped down on my knees too. We kissed and hugged and cried. And then we had these ridiculously happy smiles that we couldn't wipe off of our faces.
It was a perfect night and a perfect moment. I am so blessed that God sent you my way.
You are exactly what I had in mind, MR.
I am the luckiest.
In celebration of my big news(and of course, ya know, our independence), how about an awesome
