Mix Tape Monday

I'm not one to toot my own horn, but in the day of mix tapes...
this girl earned herself a few.
I loved getting mix tapes. The element of surprise, the abrupt clicking sound of the record button, the DJ's voice chiming in at the end of the song, the lack of ease between songs... ahhh, the romance.
When I brought up mix tapes to the Mr., he informed me that he had never actually been given a mix tape.
STOP THE BUS, KIDS.
NEVER been given a mix tape? Sad, sad, sad.
I'm slowly writing down songs to add to a mix tape I'll create just for my Mr.
[I of course will have to just make a mix cd, which I'm sure he's received at some point... but mine will have mix tapes drawn all over it at least ;)]
Every Monday I'll be sharing one song with y'all!
If anyone else is interested in creating their own mix tape playlist along with me, let me know & I'll add a linky or something.

  6. I was just saying last weekend to my friend's nephew that they really never GOT the amount of effort it took to make a mixed tape. How much time and thought and affection went into waiting, waiting, waiting ...with the record, play, and pause button all pushed down at the same time.... for the perfect song to come on. Then sprinting across the room to push that pause and get the song. (and praying that the DJ wouldn't come on and talk over the last few notes of the song or -- even worse -- just cut it off!) Yeah, itunes is great and all, but kids these days never had to wait by the radio walking uphill both ways in the snow to make a mixed CD!
