God's Crackers

It's story time, kids! I normally participate in Kat's Writer's Workshop, but I had a stomach bug yesterday and am laying in bed recooperating some more today. Ugh, it was awful. I didn't get out of bed except to go to the bathroom and throw-up everything but my inner beliefs... LOVELY. Did I mention that yesterday was boy's first day off in weeks? Yeah... awesome. I refused to let him come around, because he can't risk getting this sick. So, since I'm not feeling up to an assignment, I'm pulling a post I had saved for a day such as this! Agh, it's nice to be prepared! Okay, so... on to the story!

I used to be a nanny for a 5 year old little boy with some discipline problems. His mother actually hired me because she thought I could handle him better than her & she needed the break. The woman went and got a job so she could have a break from this child! He was usually a little prince for me, but one afternoon he fell off the wagon. Here's what happened...

It was lunch time & I went into the kitchen to prepare us a meal(ahem, sandwiches & veggies... shut up, that counts!) For some reason the little Mr. insisted on eating crackers and peanut butter for lunch. I knew for a fact that his mom didn't approve of that. He kept whining to me, "I eat this all the time for lunch!", "I'm allergic to sandwiches!"... and other ridiculous things like that. At some point he got up from the table and went and grabbed the crackers out of the cabinet I had just placed them in while screaming, "They are MY crackers and I'm eating them!" I'd. Had. Enough. I walked over to him, snatched the crackers out of his hands and said, "I don't care if they're God's crackers, kid! You're eating the sandwich I made for you!" 20 minutes of pouting and eating his sandwich ensued. When he was finished he had 2 choices: 1)Apologize for yelling at me and disobeying or 2)Have a nice little chat with the corner. He walked over, took a seat in my lap and sweetly apologized. After a few minutes of silence between the two of us, the little Mr. turned around, looked me dead in the eyes and said, "Lacey? What's God's crackers?"

Ohhhhh Kiddos. :)

  2. Ok so I noticed you don't use the color orange b/c mom doesn't like it and I wanted to put my two cents in: In recent research that I've done about colors (b/c I'm a dork who does too much research) studies have found that Orange is a "cheap" color. Cheap products use orange whereas sophisticated products use black or white. and so on... I don't know why I had to say that.
