Writer's Workshop- I read and junk

For years I have been reading the blog Matt, Liz & Madeline.  It was one of the first blogs i began reading religiously.  If you've never read the blog, it is written by a widowed father.  His wife passed away the day after giving birth to their first child & his blog has followed his journey and documented he & his daughters life together.  From the toughest moments in the beginning to their travels to every day life to tough moments now... four years after his wife's passing.  His story touched the hearts of people all over the world and now along with his wildly popular blog, he has written a book.  A book!
I received the book, Two Kisses For Maddy, as a Christmas gift from MR's sister.  For months I have been putting off reading it so that I could stock pile some books for our beach trip in June.  However, the past few nights have been difficult sleep nights- bad weather one night, up worrying about my nieces health another... and so I picked up the book and began reading.  Night one I tore through part 1, which is about half of the book.  Night two I annihilated part 2 and most of part 3.  I have a few chapters left, and unlike most books I am not dreading finishing it because I'm not ready for it to end.  When you read a bloggers book, you get to keep reading the story for as long as they're blogging.  What a bad ass concept.
So I give it 2 thumbs way up there.  Yes, it is going to be sad at parts, but it's also going to be uplifting.(& there are gonna be a lot of potty words, but look... you'd curse too if you were going through it.)  You have to find the beauty in things... and that's what Matt did.  He found the beauty of life in his daughters face... a face that looks just like her Mother's.

  5. Matt's blog was one of the first blogs I started to read all the time. I bought her book almost as soon as it's out. Yes, it's sad and it made me cry, but I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

  6. I adore Matt and his family. I started reading his blog just after Madeline was born and I had my own baby. I felt this intense sadness...not just for Maddy and Matt...but for Liz. How completely unfair that she had to go before she could experience motherhood.
