OH! & I accepted a bit of a challenge tonight from my friend Lacey(cool name, I know!) over at Apartment 513. 30 Days of Awesome. Head over to see what it's all about! Maybe you'll even want to join us? I'll be doing a post at the end of each week to let you see how my quest for awesomeness is going :)

Through it all hangin' tough, we'll be side by side...

(That song is by the uber famous band, Zack Attack. You're welcome for getting that stuck in your head the rest of the day!)

It's time for Writer's Workshop with Kathy from Mama's Losin' It!
My Chosen Prompt: How did you meet your best friend?

I think I told this story on the old blog, but it's a good one... so we're bringin' it back!

The year was 1989. My brother, sister and I were in the front yard raking leaves. (To be honest, I was five... so I wasn't doing much raking. I think it was just something my Mom told us to do so she could be left alone for an hour.) As I was lolly gagging around in the leaves, I happened to see a pair of feet under the moving van that was parked in the driveway next door. They weren't just any old feet, y'all... these were KID SIZED FEET. & Those shoes? They look like shoes I could wear! Surely, there was a girl over there and she was my age! I'd never had a friend on my street before & the prospect of it was lovely! I watched the little feet march back and forth, back and forth, back and forth... mesmerized. I was in such a trance that I didn't realize the feet were getting closer and closer. I snapped to when I heard a little voice. There, on the other side of the chain link fence, stood a little girl with dark brown hair and a smile. "Hey! I'm Lauren!" , she said to me. I was a shy one at the time & clung to my sister like the world was about to end. "This is Lacey!", my sister proclaimed proudly on my behalf. "We can be friends!", the little girl said happily. Clearly, this girl wasn't shy. How were WE going to be friends? I couldn't even bring myself to speak to her. The less I spoke, the more she did. "If you won't be my friend, I'm going to jump over this fence and make you be my friend!", she told me. And then, she disappeared behind the truck again. I looked up to my sister to see what she was thinking, and before I could utter a word to her, the little girl reemerged with her Dad in tow. She lifted her little arms and her Dad lifted her over the fence.
True to her word,
she came over that fence and made me be her friend.

From that day forward, Lauren would be my very best friend. We would share shoes, clothes, dreams, nail polish, laughter, bikes, beds, stories, tears and for many years...that fence.
She's become a constant in my life.
She is my family.
She is forever.
I'm so lucky she jumped over that fence.
It was fate.

Crash, Bang, My Heart Goes Boom

Just a quick welcome to my old friend Fall!
Hello Cool Front! I've been waiting for you! Cool Front... let me introduce you to my lovely friend, Boots. Boots, Cool Front. Cool Front, Boots. :) Even if you're only able to enjoy one another in the evenings, I say go for it. Do whatever turns you on... I'm not judging you.

You guys look great together, really! A perfect pair!

In Weekend News:
It was great to start off! Friday I cooked for the man friend.  He usually takes over and it drives me insane, but sometimes that's just lovely, ya know?  Saturday I played the tom boy and joined WG and his roommates at the hunting camp in MS to set up deer stands. I mean, I just rode on the back of the four wheeler and picked wild flowers(played he loves me, he loves me not... turns out he loves me, in case you were wondering) but I got mud on WG's camo boots (that I managed to keep on my feet by shoving my entire shoe in them), so that totally counts as tom boy status. Sunday I was a good little house-girlfriend and cleaned and ironed WG's pants for the week, then we ran some errands together. (Walmart for him, Sephora for me... typical!) That's where the good stopped and the Sucky began...

WG had to watch some tears fall this weekend. It was my first break down and cry moment in front of him. It was nothing he did, (amen!)... you see, I got in a fender bender. My first real one. I've been bumped into and bumped into someone... but never with any damages. Well, this... uhm, there's damage. Long story short and broken: stopped at stoplight, person in front of me inches forward, i go to inch forward, my flip flop slips from in-between my toes and is now wedged on my foot sideways, as I try to hit the brakes my flip flip hits the gas and BAM. I'm all up in some Honda Pilots business. My car is pretty jacked looking, but running just fine. What's important is that everyone is okay. A sore body, bruised hip and mangled front end of my car? I can handle that. WG handled my tears flawlessly, telling me he was sorry it happened and I was upset, but that the most important thing was that I was okay. He kissed and hugged and listened and talked at all the right times. I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else after having such a bad night. I fell asleep with him at my side and the pup at my feet, feeling more at home than I do in my own bed most days. Maybe my heart is growing.  Or maybe my bed is full of the past... who I used to be.

I'm guest posting tomorrow at my girl Summer's :) ! MUST. DECIDE. WHAT. TO. WRITE.
Any subject requests, y'all?

I'm Thinking About...

... a picnic for two when the cool autumn air finally finds it's way to Louisiana. :) Have any good picnic foods I should include? It's never too early to start planning a menu!

...printing pictures. I'm going to try to keep a scrapbook of my 25th year! I'm not a big scrapper, so it should be interesting! I'm going to do everything I can to NOT BUY any cutesy scrapbooking stuff until after I have the pictures picked out that i'm going to use. Because I am so the type to buy a bunch of crap and never use it.(Which is when I'd end up having a giveaway of all the crap I didn't use... because hey, you might!?)
...how sad it is that I upgraded to Picnik premium & the only thing I've figured out how to do is make myself kiss, well... myself. I also find it a little sad that I'm pretty amused by it!

...the gorgeousness of this bed. I don't think it would be incredibly hard to make either! I'm going to save it to my inspiration folder! :)
♥♥♥...this good looking fella that I call my very own. We're a few months in now & learning more and more about one another. He's still making my heart feel happy and beat fast. We aren't perfect, we're not striving to be, but we each feel like we are the lucky one, and I think that's saying something. I think that's a little bit of perfection in itself.♥♥♥
It took me a while to figure that out & then I found him by pure accident...
sweet serendipity!

Happy Friday, friends! Have a perfectly lovely weekend!

Lots of goodness happening here next week! Pictures of my weekend, guest posting over at one of my bbb's (best blog buddy... duh) and a ton of new creations! Oh ... and POSSIBLY a giveaway if I can get my booty in gear!

Hope to see you then, Lovies :)
