I used to think:
that in AC/DC's song "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" they were actually saying, "Dirty Deeds, The Thunder Chief".
that the Song "Barbara Ann" was actually called "Bop-A-Ran". Bop Bop Bop, Bop Bop-A-Ran!
that in The Pussycat Dolls song, "When I Grow Up", they were saying "When I grow up I wanna have BOOBIES", but apparently they are saying "When I grow up I wanna have GROUPIES." Whatever... I still stand by that one!
that in U2's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" they were singing "Vi-Va-Hoooooooo!" instead of "Feed The Wooooorld!"
I don't know, I'd settle for groupies (or boobies if I were of the other gender).
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of songs I took years to figure out the real lyrics for. And for the record, it's bop and ran to my ears.
I though Neil Diamond was singing Reverend Blue Jeans instead of Forever in Blue Jeans.
ReplyDeleteOnce, we were watching a British film and had trouble understanding the dialog, so we turned on the closed captioning. Then we left it on ---amazing what we had been missing. Of course there are times when I'm glad I am not really hearing impaired, because sometimes the closed captioning looks something like this: I'm @@@@@@ing g@@@@@### a ##@@ct
I love this! I wish I could think of some lyrics I totally messed up as well.
ReplyDeleteToo funny Lacey
I think we've all made these faux pas and we can only hope that we've only done it in private. But come on, feed the world and vi-va-hooooo. What were you thinking?
ReplyDeleteI used to think the Cheap Trick song "After the Rain" they said ~lay you hard and have some fun~ instead of ~lay your heart and head upon~. Easy mistake right?
ReplyDeleteI totally think PCD's say boobies!
I'm right with you on the Barbara Ann song... my dad used to love it and I would always sing it wrong!!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Mama Kats...
ReplyDeleteOh ... you are going to have such fun reading your comments today, I suspect!
I thought the song "Signed, Sealed Delivered" was saying "Trying to steal the libbet."
My friend thought Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" song said "Hold me closer, Tony Danza" instead of "Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer." To this day, I think of Tony Danza whenever I hear this song.
Love the spin you put on this prompt!
hello SITSer! fun post, I totally used to sing barbara anne wrong too! hope you have a great thursday!!
ReplyDeleteHAHA I totally didn't know that about the pussycat dolls. I seriously thought it was boobies!!
ReplyDeleteOh my... I don't EVEN want to know what songs I have been singing wrong. My son tries to correct me with what he considers "his" songs... I just tell him that HE is wrong. I am older, I know what they are saying, right?
ReplyDeleteI totally thought that they said boobies too! I still sing it that way!!!
ReplyDeleteYou mean to tell me that they aren't saying Thunder Chiefs? I thought that up until a second ago. :)
ReplyDeleteI vote for boobies, too. who needs groupies??
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny. I was singing all loud and alone in the car today when I realized I had the words screwed up. I really thought I had it since I sing it all the time alas I was wrong!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteOk, so I found your blog through Mama Kat and think that it is AWESOME. I reading through some of your post and I had to comment on this one because until reading this post, I too though the song was "Bop-A-Ran" and its funny you mentioned the Pussycat Dolls song, because they were talking about that verse with the lead singer on a radio station I listen to and the DJay said the same thing! HA! Again! Love your blog. Im going to follow you know...be afraid! HA, no just kidding!
