A Sweet Shower... not a kinky one

I'm planning a bridal shower for one of my best friends that is to take place in mid-April.  Me, being me... I already feel like I'm behind.  I want to have it all planned out down to the teeny tiny details already.  But so far about all I have done is picked out invitations, decided on a "theme" & put my name on the books for a cake and some cookies.

I am planning to make the dining room table the dessert buffet!
Clearly, it won't be as amazingly lavish as these Amy Atlas tables. Nor as large.  Nor will I have the perfect color backdrop hanging from my ceiling.  Definitely scaled down, but lovely all the same!

The print of these cupcake liners is my inspiration for the whole party...
(and I plan to make some cupcakes to fill these bad boys)
[I  also bought some fabric in this same print to make table runners!]
These are the invitations:
I'll make some poms to hang from the chandellier

and some cake plates to use to put goodies on.  I plan on getting the materials from GW and gluing them together and spray painting them.  I know you've all seen these tutorials a million times on blogs!
& I'll craft up some sweet doily banners to drape across the big kitchen windows
I have already made a cute bunting to decorate the top of the cake... which I want to keep super simple and sweet.  Similar to the cake pictured above on the turquoise stand.

Okay... so apparently I am a little more put together than I thought now that I've laid it all out here.  The crafty stuff I can handle in a snap, but
HERE'S WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP:
I need some ideas for things to include on my sweets table that I can make ahead!  Maybe something that can be popped in the freezer until the night before the shower?

& Ya' know what?  Whichever ideas I choose & use, I will send those people a little goody in the mail!
Who doesn't love that?

12 love notes:

  1. Sounds like you have it all planned out! lol! I'm loving the cupcake liners and invites! SAM's has some frozen quiches (already made though) but they are super tasty!

  2. I love how colorful these images are! I read a great post earlier today about food for valentine's day. I think these half-orange cupcakes would work nicely since you're celebrating that she's found her half-orange!

  3. I think this shower is going to be pretty fabulous.. I absolutely love those paper chandeliers.

I am the least crafty person in the world, and i don't cook. I'm sooo sorry!

  4. I'm planning a bridal shower for my sister in April. I'm also doing a dessert/candy buffet and my theme is lemon, so I have a million ideas. If you pick colors for the table, it's a lot easier to get inspiration for the treats. I'm also serving mini caramel apples, fruit tarts and large pretzel sticks (rods) covered in white chocolate. Good luck!

  5. cute ideas!

cake balls are the best, and can totally be frozen. also, chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks (which can be prettied up with sprinkles to match the shower colors!) are suuuuper easy and can be kept in the fridge. i am totally a sucker for chocolate bark, too - doesn't have to just be peppermint, i made some at christmas with chopped up MM's and butter fingers!

  6. I found a recipe from Giada this past holiday season for cinnamon fudge with sea salts and it is a HUGE party pleaser! It only takes about 15 minutes to prep, and then you just stick it in the fridge and cut it into little squares! Super super simple and OH SO AMAZING!!!! The perfect blend of sweet chocolate goodness, without being so sweet it makes your teeth hurt. (It's more of a dark chocolate fudge) Let me know if you want the recipe!

  7. OK someone already said cake balls...and mentioned chocolate covered pretzels...though you could also do chocolate covered strawberries, pineapples or apples. Oreo truffles are amazing!! Whoopie pies have always been a favorite and you can make the filling the bride's colors or add sprinkles on the outside of the filling that match. You could also make wedding dress cookies, though I'm not sure how original that is...but I'm sure you'd know how to add some spice:)

  8. Love your inspiration pics! I made the little cake buntings for my wedding cakes. You could make cake pops or cake balls (like Bakerella) and I saw someone else posted about Sam's Club having frozen quiches, appetizers, etc. and they are all so good! Their bacon wrapped shrimp is yummy if they have it at a store close to you.

I gave you an award on my blog, if you're into that kind of thing!

  11. I've never made them, but I love eating it whenever I see it. I grew up calling them Mud Puppies, but I've seen them with a million different names. It's basically chex, covered with melted chocolate and peanut butter, and then dusted with powered sugar. They really are so addictive!

You've always been my favorite... don't tell the others!
