All By Myself

On Wednesday, MR text me mid-day to ask, "Do we have plans Friday?"
I quickly responded with "No. Why?"
Did he make plans for us?  Did friends ask us to do something?  I waited for his answer...
"Phil & Kevin want to go see a movie."
It is very rare that MR and I spend our nights apart and while most times that we make separate plans, my first thought is "I am going to miss him."... this time was different.
A wash of giddy came over me.  No, I wasn't daydreaming of a girls night or an evening of taking my sweet time shopping.
I was genuinely excited at the thought of having a night of absolutely nothing to do & no one to do it with.
Oftentimes I think we forget that the most important relationship one can have, after your relationship with God(whatever God that may be for you), is the relationship with oneself.
It took me a very long time to learn that.  It is one of the most important things I have ever learned, actually.
EVER.
 Have yourself a little party.

Learn that there is a difference between alone and lonely.
Make time for your favorite jammies.

So when five oclock rolls around, I will change into my yoga pants & a tank.
I will order out.
I will watch a chick flick.
I will paint my nails.  Or craft.  Or read. Or have a Lacey only dance party.
I will enjoy myself.
When's the last time you carved out an evening just for you?
Make a date with yourself soon, okay?
You will thank me.
I promise.

Wednesday Love

Hi.
It's me.
Lacey.
Sorry I have been a little absent.
Sometimes I suck that way.
How are you?
Good?  Me too.
See?  We're the kind of friends who pick up right where we left off... the awkwardness only lasts a few seconds and then we're in slumber party mode.
I like that about us.
Now put the brownie down, french brain my hair & act interested :)

1st: I ♥ KKP
Kenli Kaye turns the big(cough cough) two oh today.
If you don't know Kenli, you're seriously missing out on some goodness.
She has a pretty little face and a sick sense of humor and I love the stuffin out of her, y'all!
(Yes, yes I did make you a super disturbing John Mayer Head Birthday Cake.  You're very welcome.  Haaappy Birthday, little lady!)

2:I ♥ cupcakes
As proof  from my John Mayer Head Birthday Cake, I like to bake!  I have been planning to make cupcakes for the bachelorette party I am throwing next weekend & finally found a recipe I want to use!  My girlfriends love when I make strawberry cupcakes, so I think they will be presently surprised with the little upgrade here!

3: I ♥ shoes
It has been brought to my attention by my feet that I need some comfortable "on the go" shoes.  When MR & I spend our days pounding the pavement making our own little adventures up as we go, I usually come home with blisters on the bottoms of my piggies.  Ouch.  I super mega like these Toms.  The nautical feel & rope bottoms make me just a little bit giddy.  Toms also remind me of my Grandaddy's slippers and that makes me grin :)

Happy Wednesday, lovers.

WHAT I'M LOVING WEDNESDAY

Keep Up!

I've been a busy girl.
Between work, planning a friend's bridal shower & celebrating lovin' my MR, I've barely had time to watch mindless television.  ALMOST ;)

Let's start with the mindless television watching, shall we?
After MR falls asleep I turn it to Bravo & hope that a re-run of one of the Real Housewives will be on.  The other night I as blessed with another show that made me cringe, laugh & question my intelligence all at once.  What show could I possibly be talking about, you ask?
Why, Pregnant in Heels, of course!  Clearly, this woman is not pregnant(though she'd like to be, bless her heart)... she is a baby concierge or something of that nature.  I can't remember the ridiculous title that has been bestowed upon her.  On this episode of Pregnant in heels, Rosie(baby whisperer) has been hired by a couple expecting their second child/first son to help them choose a name for their baby.  They refer to it "branding" their baby.  UHM, WHAT?  Rosie then puts together a "think tank" of "experts" to help decide the name of this lucky(not at all doomed b/c his parents are certifiable)child.  One of the "experts" is Rosie's assistant.  I'll let his picture do the talking...
 [baby naming expert extraordinar]
Yeah.  I'm being serious.  Soooo, clearly I have to continue to watch this show b/c it's so bad it's good.

Moving on :)

I've been doing Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown, which I am referring to as "Power Yoga", because it makes you a hot sweaty mess.
There are a few times a workout that I shout at Jillian, 30 Day Shred style, but I give the workout 2 thumbs up overall.
MR & I decided to celebrate our Anniversary(which was Sunday) all weekend long.
Friday he showed up at my house with a lovely bunch of purple iris'(such a sweet man he is!) & took me to dinner at the place we had our first "real" date.  It was perfect.
Saturday we hopped in the car and headed to the French Quarter for French Quarter Fest.
Here are a few pictures from the day:
We grabbed dinner at Acme Oyster House where we had raw oysters(me=2, MR=22... I kid you not!), cold beer & a fried oyster & shrimp poboy.  It. Was. Yum.
Relaxing and listening to some tunes.
(French Quarter Fest is a music fest where a ton of bands play at multiple different stages throughout the Quarter.)
[yes, I went choppa style on my hair and got rid of 5 inches... also, my eyes are picking up the green in MR's shirt, they aren't normally that green.  They are brown with flecks of green and gold, but this looks green to the extreme!]
[2 thumbs up for a seriously tacky hat]
[Not sure why I went with the Wonder Woman pose for this one]
MR snaps some photos of a bad hat dress up session while on an impromptu bad souvenier shop stroll.  I just can't pass a hat rack without trying a few on!
Oh & Sunday we had a crawfish boil with MR's fam!  It was great... and also yum!  I had a delicious weekend, now that I'm thinking about it.  Guess I better do a little more of that Power Yoga, eh?

Now I'm elbow deep in tissue paper, making pom pom flowers for the bridal shower & just remembering I have yet to buy a gift.  MUST. BUY. A. GIFT.  I have made so many cute decorations that I can't wait to show y'all though!  Next week, my friends!

The 4th Month

Hey fools!  No jokes for me today, it's been a long week & honestly, I don't want to jinx anything! haha :)
I can't believe it is already April!  I am pretty sure March must have been in a hurry(had to pee really bad or something) and just sped right past me.
I have a feeling that April has a big bunch of fun stuffed in her purse and is ready to bust it out for me, so I'm personally pretty excited to see her gorgeous face.(April is a feminine month, duh.)
Weekend 1 Fun:
Drinks with MR at our neighborhood club(this day last year we hung out for the 2nd time & that's where we went) Brunch with the girls,  Dinner to celebrate my Grandmother's Birthday!

In other news... I have boobs.
That's right, boobs.
Here's why I want to talk about them...
Apparently, women who have boobs aren't supposed to be petite & well, that's not working for me.
I'm have a big problem in the bathing suit department this year, folks!  I am in need of a strapless bikini top b/c I am the MOH in my friend's wedding at the end of May & from now until then, there will be a few day trips to the beach & 1 bachelorette weekend at the beach.(Nobody ever liked a bridesmaid with tan lines.)
I got pretty excited when I walked into Target & found they have quite a few strapless bikini tops with underwire.  I thought the booby Gods were shining down on me!  Then I did what all girls do when they are bra/bikini shopping... I felt the top up.  What did I find?  3 inches of non-removable padding.
::Sigh:: What does a girl who needs 3 inches of padding in her bikini need underwire for?
I've tried on 3 tops that would have been promising had I been a bit bigger everywhere else...
so naturally, I tried the size down on & well, once "everwhere else "fit great, my boom booms were so squeezed in and pushed up that I looked like Pammy Anderson.  Disappointed, I gave up on bikini shopping and began to get dressed.  About the time that I had put my bra back on & begun to hang the bikini tops, I looked in the mirror.  There I stood in bikini bottoms and a black strapless bra.  LIGHT BULB!!!
I am going to turn a bra into a bikini top!  Any ideas or tutorials(if you've seen some other sad bikini shopping woman do this) would be so appreciated!

Happy Weekend!
