It's a Fashion Friday of sorts...

Fashion Friday direct from my bed... web cam style.
Don't worry, I'm decent! Come on in.

Remember how I posted about that tee yesterday?(no? scroll down.) Well, moments before I clicked "buy" I decided "I COULD just make it myself." So I did. I don't like it quite as much... but for $5, I can't complain! It did take me a while to get that arch just right, though.(Did that count as complaining? sorry...)
I'll prob. just wear it to work out in anyway.
Gah, look how white I am.
Oooo wait, wait! I forgot about the back! Looka this little peek-a-boo surprise back there!
Do you know how difficult it was to just take that picture? There are 3 others before that where I look RIDICULOUS. Not like it would be the first time you'd see me doing somethin' stupid over here, but whatev.

So, the last few days I have been battling a cold.
(Felt amazingly great today, so glad!)
I've been helping my sister out this week by keeping my niece from 6:45-Noonish usually.
Not fun when you're sick, ya know?
You poor Mom's... I'll know your pain oneday.
But I discovered something that may just change my life.
Web cam babysitting.
Seriously.
Kids LOVE just looking at themselves in the mirror, so imagine their delight when they can watch their every move on the computer screen. They think they're watching a live movie or something.

Without further adieu, I give you
Web cam babysitting
Doll Face and I were both sick this day, hence my sad face. She clearly couldn't care less about her illness... she was fixated on the baby on the screen and possibly baby stoned from children's cold meds. I dunno.

The following pictures pretty much tickle me to the core:Monkey Man: Lay Lay, Lay Lay! That's LIKE... Me!
Me: I know, right? It is SOOO you, man!

He found much delight in it, clearly.
Agh, how much do you love that face!?

To be a kid again...
Oh, who am I kidding?
;)
Happy Friday!

The Joys Of Being A Girl

Welcome, new followers! :o) Oh yes, I see you over there! & I plan on coming to visit each and every one of you ASAP! I'm assuming you hopped over from Litte Miss Oofa, Brooke's blog? Which means you have fab blog taste, congrats! Thanks for taking the time to mosey around my little piece of the net to get to know me better :)

Speaking of fab taste in blogs... I found Brooke through my #1 homie Summer, whoooo I just so happen to be linking up with today for Fashion Friday! It all just came full circle, my pretties!

It's 2am. I'm packing again. On the agenda this weekend?
Friday night: C's Birthday! Dinner and out with a bunch of friends and their men!
Saturday: Tailgating with friends (I already know what I'm wearing for that, amen.)
So, Friday night duds... ready, set
aaaaand GO!

(If you know what movie I'm referencing with that quote, kudos to you!)
I'm comfortable in this. American Eagle wide leg jeans, Express one shoulder top, Flower pin/pony tail holder, camel colored embossed heels ... wait, I've gotta show you these beauties.
Purrrr! Should I maybe wear skinny jeans to show these puppies off better? Would that just up and solve my fashion dilemma? Alright... on to the next outfit!
((I've had a few of you ask me where these are from, and I'm SO SO Sorry to tell you I got them at Ross 2 years ago! They are made by DollHouse though, so if you want to do some internet searching... have at it!))
((excuse that mess... I'm busy throwing my closet around my room and packing!))
What I'm about to say may upset my people who aren't blessed in the "bubby" (as my girl Theresa from The Real Housewives of NJ says) department, but...
I think there may be too much cleavage happening here. I feel like WG would be a.)well, clearly enjoying the view... but b.) pulling my top up all night. I mean, you're not getting much of a view if you're my height... but a few inches taller and you're in like Flynn. (So showing it on the internet was the way to go... that just hit me, ha!)Also... I kind of feel like I could be 5 months pregnant under this frock. KnowWhatIMeanVern?
Moments like these make me wish I were a man. Alright, that's a complete and utter overstatement... but really, wouldn't it be nice to just throw on some khakis and any old button down and look nice? One thing I'm always good at picking out?
Pretty undies :)

What a blog tease...

Soooo, I don't know, I guess maybe I'll go with number one? Unless, perhaps, I stop by the mall on the way out of town and happen to see something I need? I guess you'll hear about it (and see pics of the weekend) on Monday!

Love you guys to pieces :)

THIS JUST IN: Sooo, I may have swung by the mall after work today... I don't know, i'm a little hazy. I knew I wanted a thin(faux? I don't know...)denim dress for fall that I could pair with those camel boots I got for my birthday, so when this little lady popped off of the wrack and into my hands, who was I to deny her?

This is strange, but I think I like the way it looks on me better than this brick house of a manequin. It's not so va-va-voom on me... that manequin is workin' with some J-Lo measurements or somethin'. I may end up wearing this tonight because it's raining and I can't stand when the bottom of my jeans get wet (and then it somehow travels halfway up my leg. ICK). I went over to F21 and grabbed a brown belt so that I could leave my shoe options open. Look how cute this belt is...

It was only $3.80! Sooo, I got a black one as well. Come on... you would have too!

Bye again ;)

Sorry there's no photo shoot pics this time, y'all(because you're dying for that and all)! I'm wearing the dress tomorrow night, so I'll post pics after that!
I got a seriously amazing deal on this precious little Joie apron dress the other day! I slipped it on and twirled around in a fit of happiness. I felt like June Cleaver, all ready to bake some cookies and serve 'em up, y'all. I'm pretty sure I squealed when I saw what the savings were! You will too... for sure.(HUMOR ME, People!)

Cuuuute, right? Just a simple little cotton/silk blend dress. :) I love all of the detailing.

See?
Sweetness :)
I'm gonna balance out all that sweetness with some sassy underthings... because ya' know, I'll know what's goin' on under there! I swear it makes all the difference ;)
Ready for the breakdown?
Regular price: $284.00
Sale price as of now(on this website): $147.20

Yep... $23.00!
Ridiculous, right? Psh, I know.
So, where will this dress be making it's debut, you ask?
A "Fun Party"! It'll be my first and should be interesting to say the least! I'm not so sure I want to know EVERYTHING that's going on in my friend's bedrooms, but I fear I'll be finding out soon! Whatever, I'm sure it'll be fun! We'll see how it goes, and then we'll see if I can actually mention it again on here! Haha :)
Have a great weekend, lovies!

De-Funk Your Fashion Friday: Just call her "Dorothy Gale"...

Nawww, it's Amy!
from:

L: You're related to Judy Garland? My friend Molly would give her big toe to be able to claim that! What's your favorite Judy movie?
Yes, Judy Garland is my great Aunt! My favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz! I love the song, "Over the Rainbow", it just brings tears to my eyes.

L: Mine too!(I also love Judy in Meet Me in St. Louis!) Next question! You have 24 hours to yourself. What do you do?
I would sleep in until 10am, then head out for a mani/pedi. After, I would have lunch with a friend and go shopping. After shopping I would head home to read a good book and take a nap. Wake up for a Lobster dinner and some red wine, then go for a walk. I would end my day with a hot bath and a fun movie!

L: Well, that sounds just lovely! Your daughter's name is Alyce! I love that! :) What were your other thoughts as far as names went?
With my daughter I only had one name in mind and that was Alyce. We had to come up with a middle name and we came up with Jayne. The spelling was the difficult part! Like: Alice Jayne, Alyce Jane, or Alyce Jayne (which we ended up choosing). So no others names crossed my mind or my husband's! She was named after her great grandmother who passed away of ovarian cancer early in life.

L: That's a lovely tribute to your Grandmother. :) Such a classic name! Last question, Amy!
Pick one! Ice cream or Cocktail?
A hard question ice cream or a cocktail? It depends on the day. If it is way too hot outside I love to go to a mom and pop shop that has yummy cookie dough peanut butter in a waffle cone. But after a long day I may like a nice glass of red wine.

L: Well, that wasn't picking one at all, now was it? Haha! It's okay, that was probably the hardest question I asked. I loved chatting with you, Amy! I hope you like the outfit!
amy

Of course it's Wizard of Oz inspired! Right down to the panties, my friend! I don't play around! I wanted to choose something that would be condusive to having that perfect 24 hours of "you time"! Here's hoping you get to have it soon!
P.S. Happy belated Birthday, girl! Hope it was perfection!

The Return of The De-Funk!

De-Funk Your Fashion Friday is back! Today is the first installment in a while & it's also the first post that I'm using my new and improved interview method instead of the all consuming write-ups I used to do!
I know, I know, you're excited! Be cool my babies! You want me to keep talkin' or just get right into it? WHAT? You want me to get right into it? Well, that was kinda rude. I'll remember that. Fine, here we go!
Up today is Vivienne from The V Spot!
She's funny & pretty & has a lovely little life and family. She rekindled a romance with her high school sweetheart, and that's what has inspired this outfit. I wanted it to feel vintage and romantic :)
All I'm gonna say is Va-Va-Voom! I love it!
(as always, click the pic to find out where the items are from and prices!)
Viv
L: You made a love connection with your high school sweetheart at your 15 year reunion… SO SWEET! Tell me your favorite memory of him in high school!
V: I don't have a specific memory. Many of them are specific snippets in time - they way he looked when he took notes in History class. The way his car door squeaked and how he would come around and open mine... things like that. They all enhanced that time period. But what I remember most is that we laughed a lot.
One of the cornerstones of our relationship is completely screwing with the other person. Not practical jokes, but more verbal banter. We have always had good natured teasing and smart-assery going on. (Still do to this day.)

L: I love that! Tell me more!

V: We take turns "one-upping" the other. A perfect example of our relationship: One night we went out to dinner at an upscale seafood restaurant. There was a basket on the table with fresh baked, crusty bread. My husband, on the other side of the table, mowed through it, crumbs flying everywhere. I went to the restroom. When I came back and was sitting back down, I noticed there were piles and piles of bread crumbs on the table in front of me. At that moment, the waiter came with the little crumb scraper for the table and cleaned up the mess in front of me, sort of rolling his eyes a bit. Hubby had pushed all the crumbs to my side of the table and let me take the fall for making such a huge mess.

I got him back several months later when we were in an ice cream shop, getting milkshakes (served in tall glasses). Our son dropped his spoon, and as I was desperately trying to save the spoon, I knocked over the milkshake in the process. Milkshake everywhere, a total mess. I went up to "get help" and told the waiter that my husband knocked it over. I just waited outside until they were done. :)

L: 4 boys! Do you enjoy being the only girl around or do you wish you had someone’s nails to paint?
V: Sure sometimes, when I've heard one fart joke too many, or when I find that the source of an odor is that someone shoved a stinky sock underneath a couch cushion, rather than put it in a hamper... sure, a girl would be nice. However, I see the drama that my friends who have daughters are going through, and I think "Thanks, I'm good."
L: I feel you. We girls are a lot of work! Speaking of your friends...

A while back you wrote a post about having drinks with friends at HOB. You included a cute pic of you and your girls. Seriously, the really tan one looks freakishly familiar. Why? (this is an honest to God question! Haha! Has she been on TV or something?)
V: She's my best friend and yes, she is an actress! We grew up together in a little town called Norco and have been friends since Jr. High School. She is completely normal and down to earth (she has to be or we wouldn't stand for it...lol!)

I tease her that she has never had a "real" job, in 20 + years because she has always been able to make a living with acting and modeling. Her name is Eva and she is probably best known for playing "Maria" on All My Children for several years, but she is currently on CSI Miami.

L: Ha! I knew it! Very cool that you have an actress friend & also that she is down to earth!

Okay, last question! Favorite color? Favorite thing that happens to be your favorite color?
V: I will say that I like pink waaaay more than I ever did growing up. I now buy pink everything. iPod, hairbrush, scissors, pens... if it's pink, my boys treat it like it's radioactive and leave it alone. I never have to search for things that are pink, they're always right where I left them.

My favorite color to wear is usually black. I don't know why, but I gravitate towards it. I think because it is slimming, it's versatile and it usually will go with anything. I try to add more color to my wardrobe, but I have to make a conscious effort to do so, otherwise I get to the checkout counter and realize almost everything I'm buying is black. Don't even get me started on black shoes. I have actually found shoes in the back of my closet and exclaimed, "How cah-ute are these??!!"
L: That's funny! I love black too! However, I only have 2 pairs of black heels... weird! I think it's because I found the perfect pair & can't bring myself to buy any others!
I loved getting to know you a little better, Viv! I hope my peeps did as well! Go visit Vivienne and give her a little lovin'!

Fashion Friday

It's Friday, already?! It snuck up on me this week!
First of all, today is my Step-Dad's Birthday! He's the greatest man in the world & I feel so blessed that he is a part of my family. Happy Birthday :) I love you!
& Now, my friends, it's time for a little of Summer's Fashion Friday! I forgot to play last week, & then didn't wear anything cute this week. I FAIL. FAIL! Seriously though... have you ever been to Louisiana in the Summertime? You understand where I'm coming from if so! If not, ever been in a steam room? That's it! That's exactly what stepping outside feels like here! It's hard to dress cute in these conditions!
HOWEVER, tonight I think I'm going to head into the city and meet with Boy after work. So, I will do my best to look cute! That's not to say my hair won't end up in a high pony at some point with my bangs curling awkwardly in my face. I know, HOTT.
So here's what I'll be wearing :)
friday
Except my thighs won't be that skinny and adorable! Haha, I'm honest people! Oh & that belt is black... it just looks brown for some reason. Whatever.
Have a lovely weekend, y'all!
Smooches,
Lace
OH & P.S. My De-Funk Your Fashion posts will reappear next week!

Fashion Friday, Come On Doooowwwwn

It's Fashion Friday already? How did that happen?
I've decided to add a 3rd De-Funk this week because I've got so many of you on the list to get through still!
Well, here goes!
Cynthia has had quite a trying year. I'm not going into anything deep here, because this is supposed to be about fashion and fun! But if you read her blog, you very well know what I'm talking about, and I'm sure many of your prayers, like mine, have been for her. Cynthia loves fashion and often posts about it on her blog as well! :) I love fashion posts of all kinds! I love to pull inspiration from others. She's even done some video blogs where she shows her recent fashion buys & one on different ways to tie scarves! Oh, how I appreciate those!(Oh & Cynthia has the tiniest high pitch voice! Makes me giggle! Love that.)
dancing in the rain
From what I understand, she lives on(or across from?) the beach! Lucky! That's why I chose this coral beachy bag! It's from Target, and Cynthia has been in an ongoing affair with LOVES Target! After the bag everything else just fell into place. I'm really loving short dresses or tunics with jeans right now. I wanted it to feel beachy, hence the white jeans. Which are still kickin' in the fashion world. I personally wouldn't try to pull off a full white jean, but a cropped white jean? INDEED! ♥C♥, like myself, is loving the hair accessories that are trending right now, so I threw in a flower clippy! & The necklaces? Those are for her boys... Bug & R. This outfit feels comfty enough for everyday, but cute enough for something special! That's how I like my outfits to be... versatile!

::Molly from Stilettos & Diapers::
Molly is a wife and Mommy residing in sunny California! Molly is a Georgia girl at heart though, and loves going home to see her fam. My best friend is a Southern girl living in Cali right now as well, and I see so many similarities in she and Molly. You can take a girl out of the south, but you can't take the south out of a girl! Another reason I love reading Molly's blog? She is living a life similar to what I thought I would be living at this point! My life took turns I never saw coming & I'm thankful for that, so it's fun to look in on Molly's life and see what's goin' on! It's lovely, I'll tell you that! Don't take my word for it, go see her yourself :)

Stilettos and diapers

BE STILL MY HEART! This dress, ahhhh! This may be the first De-Funk where I actually go out and buy the whole outfit! I love this dress because it has such a vintage feel about it. It kind of reminds me of house linens :) I added those heels to Polyvore a while back and have been waiting for the perfect outfit to pair them with! I knew when I saw the dress that Molly needed these heels to go with it! Her husband is a good foot taller than her, and she could use the boost to get a little closer to her honey! I luuurrrvve this outfit. The ring, the jewelry, the bag, I love it all!

::Cheryl from Pixie Dusted::

Cheryl is a newlywed & so adorably in love. Her Sweetheart is, well... a sweetheart! She's a house hunting, Disney loving, Lost watching, family girl! She has a full time job and juggles all that in between work and sleep! She's easy to relate with and perfectly sweet. My favorite post of hers so far is HERE, it's about her experience at a "Fun Party"... and I'll be a monkey's auntie if she didn't decide to host one herself after that was all said and done! Haha, crazy girl!(By the way, we never got to hear any details about your party! I want the goods, woman!) Okay, so onto the outfit, right?

la pixie
It's Minnie Mouse inspired, see?! :) Cheryl is Disney Freak! I'm not even going to do a strike through on that one! This outfit makes me smile! It started with the shoes!(Doesn't it always?) They are so perfectly Minnie Mouse! I opted for stripes instead of polka dots on the dress, to give it a little more of a "grown up" feel.(I could not appreciate these angles on this dress more. I. LOVE.) Then I wanted to give her a hair accessory to take place of Minnie's signature bow! I opted for tiny flower clipies :) This outfit is so fun! It makes me want to put it on and twirl! Magical :)

Friday, May 8, 2009

Hey Y'all! Just a quick note before you scroll down to the fashion De-Funks!

I wasn't able to write much about these two bloggers. No, not because I didn't read their blogs. I read them all the time! The reason? Something is wrong with my jaw & I'm on pain meds that make me seriously loopy! I don't know what's wrong with it... but it's making it hard to eat and even kiss my boy! I KNOW, what a pain! So anyway, instead of doing my own write up on them, I took words straight from their profiles. I wish I had it in me to do more... but I'm just a wreck! If you want to understand the reason I chose the outfits I did for them... you simply have to go over and read their fabulous blogs yourself! They are both ridiculously adorable girls and I hope you take a moment to get to know them!

Lacey from ACE-These are the Days of my Life

Her name is Lacey, but you can call her "Ace", a nickname given to her by her nephew.(He couldn't say Lacey, and shortened to to "Ace"!) She just moved to Pensacola & loves it! She always planned a different life for herself, but has come to learn that the life God has planned for her is far better!

Lacey

Angel from Insights from The Demi Goddess

Angel is a 26 years old. She is tattood, but she is not a drug addict. She smokes and drinks a lot of coffee(and booze, too) and she thinks better while under the influence of alcohol, nicotine & caffeine. She can also think when she's sober. She is unafraid to speak her mind, take risks & will try anything once.

Work it Girl, Give A Twirl! It's (de-funk your) Fashion Friday!

Winner(s) are up! Scroll down or click here!

It's that glorious time of week again... Let the De-Funking begin!

As Always, click the outfit to find out where you can buy these pieces!

First is the adorable Angie, from Seven Clown Circus! EVERYBODY knows Angie, right?! If not, I don't know where you've been! Angie is a Mom of 5. That's right... 5! I honestly can't even imagine the life this woman leads! I assume it involves lots of 'No no's', 'It's okay's', 'I'm counting to three's'... oh yeah, and LOTS OF LOVE! Can you just imagine Christmas morning? Aghh, makes my heart melt and head hurt all at the same time!

I normally do dressy outfits or sundresses, but Angie has an addiction to LOVES designer jeans, and has 5 kids to keep up with... so denim it is!

Angie

CA-uuuutte! I always like to throw in different shoe options for Mommies! A girl's gotta have a heel for a hot night out without the kiddos! Throw on the flat sandals and cardigan for parent/teacher meetings & take off the cardigan and switch to the heels for some hubby time! And aren't these jeans great, Angie?! I want them! So cute! Click through so you can see the detail of the thick seam at the bottom! L.O.V.E. What's that? You love that ring? It's Twisted Silver, of course! I love this outfit! Love the colors! Love Angie! Love it all! (That seems to be the case every week... I put together an outfit for you guys and end up wanting it myself! This series is going to kill my pocket book!)

*********************

Now onto Kelly from Carty Party of Three! Kelly lives about 20 minutes away from me! I just know we will eventually bump into one another while out shopping one day! I'm always shopping in her city... it's bound to happen! So Kelly, if some loony girl with a basket full of sale items starts walking towards you and is trying to hold your child and talking like she's known you for years... don't worry. It's me, girl! Haha! Kelly is a wife and Mommy to one precious tot, Tay. She's lived all over from what I can gather! I know I've read about SC & FL and now she's here in LA. All Southern! (Where are you originally from, Kelly? & Where else have you lived that I'm unaware of? Tell us in the comments!) In her 100th post, she said she wishes she were a girly girl. Sooo I decided to put together an outfit that would reflect that wish! I went with traditionally masculine colors, but girly silhouettes! Take a look!

kelly

I am adoring the blue, green & white color combo right now! It feels nautical without going overboard, right?(Get it, overboard? Bahahaha!) Kelly loves the movie Overboard :) So do I! Okay, back to the outfit! See how the skirt & sweater mock one another? The skirt hugs the hips & puffs at the bottom. The sweater hugs the body & puffs at the sleeves. They couldn't work better together if they tried! That's right... you DO infact see 3 pairs of shoes here! The flat for running errands and playing with Taylor. The wedge for work, date night, girls night. The boots for, well... hurricane season, duh. You know what I'm talkin' about! And I purposely found this jewelry from Forever21 to match, b/c Kelly about had a panic attack when she saw all of the ugly 80's accessories they have right now! There are some gems among the 80's flashbacks...see?

Okay girls, hope you liked your fashion fixes! I think both of you are so fabulous and lovely! : ) Thanks for playing!
