My jewels are on display!

Hello Jewelry Wall! I'm your creator, Lacey.
You and me, we're going to be real good friends.

Isn't she a beaut?
(raise your hand if you clicked those pics to get a better look at my jewelry!)
((raises hand))

I went to Hobby Lobby today and scowered for just the right
materials to make holders for all of my jewelry. & then literally as I was walking
to the checkout with my arms overflowing with materials, I saw 2 single items that were already
COMPLETE(ahem, no work for me!) that would work perfectly as a ring holder & a bracelet holder. & uhm, did I mention it was CHEAPER to buy them than make my own...
SOLD.

The "ring holder" is actually supposed to be a message or picture board.
The "bracelet" holder is a coat/towel/key hanger.
(it was shades of brown and gold... all i had to do was paint it black!)
The miscellaneous goods (I have earring backs in there now) holder is a candle sconce.
(I already had this. Got it from Goodwill when I did this post... again, all i did was paint it black!)
The earring and necklace holder I made in just a few minutes!

It was super simple, but since I know someone will ask...
here's how I did it!

materials:
I had everything but the screw hooks. I got 10 from Hob Lob for about a dollar.
-I've seen people use lace, tulle, wire screen, etc. for this type of project as well. I just happened to have cross stitch fabric & thought it would work really well b/c it's so thick & already has the perfect little holes.
At first I decided to staple the fabric to the back of the frame, but quickly realized that the fabric would be flush with the wall if I did it that way. So I called on old faithful (that's my hot glue gun's name)! By gluing the fabric into the space where the glass would rest, it gave me enough room to easily slip my earrings in without scraping up my wall.

Ahem, let's all go over #3 one more time... this is a very important step!
Find someone, pay someone, bribe someone with your womanly ways...
whatever you have to do to get out of doing this yourself, do it!
Because holy moly, my right pointer finger and thumb are paying the price for screwing those puppies in all by my lonesome.

((Yeah, there's way more jewelry than that. I haven't weeded through all of it yet. I'll get there tomorrow. I'll get rid of a lot of it & then the stuff I don't wear often will be hanging on a cork board in my closet from now on!))

Hope I've inspired some of you to organize their pretties :)
I feel like it's going to make accessorizing SO MUCH easier for me!

Because everyone loves a RANDOM post

So, I was originally going to announce the winner of my Spring Fling today, but instead I will wait until tomorrow and announce it at the end of blogversations with Summer!
Yesterday, I had a few moments that were pure perfection. They looked like this...

I know. I told you, remember?!
The rest of it was not so grand. I started my day by going to pick up some bibs I had dropped off earlier in the week to a boutique I sell to. It was a special order for 3 bibs, and the woman asked if I could make them 2 INCHES LONGER. 2 INCHES!?! What the heck? Weird request! She didn't even care if the extra two inches were functioning or not... they could be ribbon or ponpom balls for all she cared. WHY, WHY, WHY?! They looked cuter the first time I finished them, that's all I'm saying! ::Sighs:: Alright, I'm done with that.
I also started on a few other projects and orders, which I hate. I like to start and finish things all in one day... I can't stand leaving a project sitting!
My bedroom is a mess and I have to get it straight by tomorrow afternoon, because we have friends coming in town from MN. My parents met them on a trip to Europe & they became fast friends. They have 2 little ones, so I'll have EVER MORE BABIES to play with for the next few days! Which brings me to another topic...
I'm sick of living with my parents. I love them, and I love spending time with them... but I'm ready for my own place again. I miss my apartment.
Did you guys recognize the bucket in the background of the picture above? Remember I showed you my re-do a few months ago(on the old blog)? Here's the replay.
Bought for $3 at Tuesday morning. They reduced the price fro me because it had some scuffs! Don't be afraid to ask the cashier if they can reduce the price if there is a flaw! I used to be so embarrassed when my Mom would do that when I was younger, but I have NO SHAME now!
I grabbed some gorgeous robins egg blue spray paint and prettied her up with it!

She needed some shine, so I added some bling! I felt like it was still lacking something, so I ended up adding the black ribbon. I LOVE it now :) It cost me $10 total! It sits on my nightstand and holds my journal, books, body lotion... you know, all my night time must haves! I know I couldn't have found something I love in any store as much as I love this! And, seriously? You can't beat $10! It just goes to show you what a little paint and jewelry can do!(Oh & those hearts aren't a part of the bucket. They're just radiating off of my cupcake!)

Come back tomorrow for Blogversations! Those of you who have asked me whether I have an accent or not can finally judge for yourselves!

Holy Geez, if you made it through this randomness... CONGRAT
ULATIONS! YOU, my friend, deserve a red velvet cupcake!

***edited to add... once I published this post and re-read it I realized that at some point I accidentally typed FRO instead of FOR, I'm too lazy to go back and find that, but just letting you know I DID in fact see it. It bugged me enough to come back here and tell you, but not enough to find it and fix it.***

It Aint No Country Club Either

Hey YOU! ;) How was your weekend? Tell me about it!
Here's some of what I did:
The area of wall between my bathroom door and my bedroom door bored me to the point that I couldn't take it anymore.
See? Ugh, bor-ing. I did paint that little picture up there though, which I still like... just need a change.
Soooo, VOILA! Much better, right? I got the charger from Target and the leopard plate from Ross. I just love them! They are both plastic! Ya' know what? Now that I think about it, the shelves and the oval frame are also plastic! Can't even tell, can you? I got those from The Dollar Tree a while back! Can't beat a buck! The "this aint no DISCO" picture came about from a conversation I once had with a coworker about songs you can't help but be happy when you hear. She said Spiderwebs by No Doubt. Good one. I sat there thinking and finally came up with one... kind of. I couldn't for the life of me think of the name of it, so I just kept saying... "You know... THIS AINT NO DISCO!" She couldn't think of it either and just thought I was off my rocker. We finally thought of it a few days later(All I Wanna Do by Sheryl Crow). To this day when I see or talk to her I will randomly throw it in... doesn't matter what we're talking about.
Her: Ew, fugly sweater. What was she thinking?
Me: Well, this aint no disco.

Her: My mom is nuts. I mean seriously, nuts. We've got the papers to prove it. When she gets here hide the liquor.
Me: Sheesh. This aint no disco.

See? Works for me everywhere and always makes me smile.
(I will likely change to some new lyrics in a few months... keep it fresh, you know?)
Another peek at something that will find it's way into my shop! Criss Cross Spring dress- Eek! It's so cute & tiny :) I can make them in any kiddo size, but I always make my first one in a newborn size because everything is just so cute when it's itty bitty.
Well, I'm off!
Have a HaPpY MoNdAY!

Lace

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Today I was laying around having a lovely(lazy) Sunday, when I decided to check my email for no apparent reason. I had an etsy conversation email notice, so I clicked in thinking it was an order or question about an item. Uhhhm, nope. It was a writer for The Times Picayune(it's the big paper in my area) wondering if she could drop my shop name and a photo of one of my items in a piece she's doing on locally made baby shower gifts. Why, YES... YES YOU CAN. I'm pretty sure I jumped up and started doing the cabbage patch at that point! It's quite pricey to take out an add in that paper, so I feel like I just nabbed myself a bit of free press! Whoot Whoot! Free is my favorite.
However, I now feel the need to list more items in my shop which means this week is going to be crazy busy with creative goodness. I'm still wandering down my gypsy road... I just have to take the next exit to babyland for a few days.
Here are a couple of bibs I did for some friends of mine who are having a little girl in Feb.! Pretty stinkin' cute!(Yep-that's me patting myself on the back, folks!)
Makes you wanna go get yourself knocked up, eh? Haha, alright... NOTHING is THAT cute!
