Looking Out On The Morning Rain...

I used to feel so uninspired.

Spent my Monday painting as planned...but my mood took a funky turn in the afternoon and it totally ruined my painting mojo.
I realized today that I am easily affected by others.
Specifically, others moods.
My mood can change from 11 years old and just met JTT excited to, well, BAD in a matter of seconds when I'm around someone who's in a funk.
Stop bringin' me down, gahhhh.

Anyway, my funky mood made me lose all the inspiration I had floating around in my brain.
BUMMER.
(I did doodle (what do you called doodling when you do it with a paint brush?) a cartoon of myself while i sat there waiting for creativity to strike... she came out sort of cute!)I also took a few pictures of my gorgeous niece Doll Face modeling one of my dresses.
She rocked it. She actually just took professional pictures in this dress, and I can't lie...
that makes my heart swoon. :)
I've been creating things for about a year and a half now & it just never gets old to see someone using or displaying something I've made. I once saw a little girl wearing a bib I'd made(it was given to her as a gift... I didn't know her) and I literally jumped up and down, grabbed my friend's arm and was like, "Holy crap! I MADE THAT!" Haha, love love love.

In other news, there's a freaking tropical storm making it's way through the Gulf of Mexico right now. I'd like to take a moment to write an open letter to Ida.
I've got your back FL, I've got your back.

((Have any of you heard the Lily Allen song "F you very much"? Oh my goodness, vulgar... in the cutest way possible. How is that even possible? I admit it lifted my funk a bit earlier, just giggling at it & dancing around :) ))

Wordful Wednesday: The Perfect Model

Sometimes cute little pictures like this happen when you get your 2 year old nephew to model your new creations for you...
And sometimes goofy pictures like this happen when you ask your 2 year old nephew to model your newest creations for you...
And then sometimes... just sometimes...
completely BAD ASS pictures like this happen when you get your 2 year old nephew to model your newest creations for you.
Gah, how hard is that face he's rocking? Love it.

This boy has my heart.
Totally and completely.

((I guess this was kind of another shameless plug... but it was meant to just be more of a showcase of my Monkey Man! Either way... if you want one of these little cutie shirts email me at lacey_inthsky(at)yahoo(dot)com))

Naps,"Gas" & Baby Laughs: It's All In A Day's Work

Yesterday I learned...

I can last exactly two nights away from WG before I start missing falling asleep like this:
(Such a funny one!)
Feeling super emo & needing my Mister by my side in a big ol' way.

Gasoline isn't one of those "The glass(or tank in this case) is half full" kind of things...
it's always, always, always half empty. Yeah, I totally ran out of gas today. Well, I didn't really run out, like break down on side of the road... my car just wouldn't start in my driveway today b/c it apparently had ZERO gas in it. Way to go, Lacey. Way. To. Go.

I can multi-task like no other.
I literally have 6 projects going, laundry in the washer & dinner cooking. Mmmhmm, I blow my own mind sometimes.

I'm completely capable of laughing my bootay off at 7am.
WHO KNEW?!
My 14 month old niece, with a serious sassy attitude had me rolling before the sun even had a chance to warm the air. God bless her :)

Taking 2 naps in 1 day is awesome & not at all lazy.
(okay, maybe a little lazy... but really, really AWESOME)

My BFF is having a giveaway today! An apron that'll hit the shop ASAP is included(along with some other greatness... seriously, I want it!) & I think you should go try your luck! I would ♥ it if one of my lovies won!

Wordful, Work & WTF Stephanie Pratt?

Some girls hate football season... it means your man glued to the TV half of the week, likely screaming calls at it. Me? I quite like it! I think it's the social aspect of football season that I appreciate more than anything, but whatever! Football season is beer, bbq, band music, cheering and laughter. Then again, it can be Sunday on the couch in your PJ's or sprawled on the living room floor on Thanksgiving day in a food coma. So many ways it can go... all make me plum happy!
Here's a shot from last weekend of a few of my girls and I tailgating before the LSU vs. Vanderbilt game.
We won!
This has been a part of Wordful Wednesday with...

---------------------------------
I've been working my booty off lately, y'all! I want to get the shop filled up SOON! My favorite things I've made in the last few days are these Forrest Friends hair clips! They are soooo cute(if I do say so myself, haha)! When I found the little round chipboard pieces, I HAD to have them. I had no clue what I would do with them since I don't scrapbook or make cards, but have them, I would! I sat down and started playing around and these are what I came up with! I ♥ them in a serious way :)

Eeeep! They make me giddy!
I love when a big question mark in my brain turns into something so precious!

Hey! Have you guys seen Stephanie Pratt recently? This is the same person? Really?

Unbelievable. I feel bad for the girl, honestly. Oy.

Home is Where your Heart is?

These days, home is feeling less and less like home. Sure, my family is here & it's where I grew up... but my heart just hasn't been here lately. Whenever the ex and I broke up I began to feel antsy in this town. I started thinking about fleeing. I'm 25, single & have no children to my name... if there ever were a time, this would be it. If I were to go anywhere, it would be closer to my friends.... which now, happens to be closer to WG. They all live in the same town. I'd just get a day job there to pay the rent and bills and do my Lacey in the Sky stuff in my spare time. Ever since I graduated highschool, I've done everything I can to stay home(or close to home)... and suddenly, I feel myself pulling away from it. It's a strange feeling for me. I guess it's time I let my heart choose a home.

Psst...

Here's some cuteness I've been creating :)

Working on a painting tonight... will share when it's complete!

I have these in couple different colors :) ((turquoise, royal blue, purple, red, black & pink)) Love them!

They're $6.99
This is my "I can't believe I'm modeling a bib right now" face. Nice, eh?
I'm just about out of this monkey fabric(and it's discontinued)! It's been a big seller for me & I'm sad to see it go! They're even cuter when they are personalized :)
They're $14.99 including the monogram

These will go up whenever I manage to get a shop update going. I need to get on the ball!
If you want to order one before I list them... as always, feel free!
Freeeeee shipping if you mention you saw this on Lacey in Love!

WW: Sneak Peaks

Wordful Wednesday:
Shop Update Prep
WG was asking when we're going to hang out again and I told him I felt like I needed to accomplish something business wise first. So, I worked allllll day long and am feeling pretty stinkin' good about it now!
(Remember, I can also personalize any of the fabric items with embroidery of your choice!)
Super sweet tea/kitchen towels!
Pillow covers and waffle weave baby blankets!
Old faithful... Cutie bibs!
I've been collecting items I see potential in for a while now and finally started rehabbing them today! I think you're really going to like them! :)
I love taking something old and making it new and fresh!
Look for it all in the shop soon!

It Aint No Country Club Either

Hey YOU! ;) How was your weekend? Tell me about it!
Here's some of what I did:
The area of wall between my bathroom door and my bedroom door bored me to the point that I couldn't take it anymore.
See? Ugh, bor-ing. I did paint that little picture up there though, which I still like... just need a change.
Soooo, VOILA! Much better, right? I got the charger from Target and the leopard plate from Ross. I just love them! They are both plastic! Ya' know what? Now that I think about it, the shelves and the oval frame are also plastic! Can't even tell, can you? I got those from The Dollar Tree a while back! Can't beat a buck! The "this aint no DISCO" picture came about from a conversation I once had with a coworker about songs you can't help but be happy when you hear. She said Spiderwebs by No Doubt. Good one. I sat there thinking and finally came up with one... kind of. I couldn't for the life of me think of the name of it, so I just kept saying... "You know... THIS AINT NO DISCO!" She couldn't think of it either and just thought I was off my rocker. We finally thought of it a few days later(All I Wanna Do by Sheryl Crow). To this day when I see or talk to her I will randomly throw it in... doesn't matter what we're talking about.
Her: Ew, fugly sweater. What was she thinking?
Me: Well, this aint no disco.

Her: My mom is nuts. I mean seriously, nuts. We've got the papers to prove it. When she gets here hide the liquor.
Me: Sheesh. This aint no disco.

See? Works for me everywhere and always makes me smile.
(I will likely change to some new lyrics in a few months... keep it fresh, you know?)
Another peek at something that will find it's way into my shop! Criss Cross Spring dress- Eek! It's so cute & tiny :) I can make them in any kiddo size, but I always make my first one in a newborn size because everything is just so cute when it's itty bitty.
Well, I'm off!
Have a HaPpY MoNdAY!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Today I was laying around having a lovely(lazy) Sunday, when I decided to check my email for no apparent reason. I had an etsy conversation email notice, so I clicked in thinking it was an order or question about an item. Uhhhm, nope. It was a writer for The Times Picayune(it's the big paper in my area) wondering if she could drop my shop name and a photo of one of my items in a piece she's doing on locally made baby shower gifts. Why, YES... YES YOU CAN. I'm pretty sure I jumped up and started doing the cabbage patch at that point! It's quite pricey to take out an add in that paper, so I feel like I just nabbed myself a bit of free press! Whoot Whoot! Free is my favorite.
However, I now feel the need to list more items in my shop which means this week is going to be crazy busy with creative goodness. I'm still wandering down my gypsy road... I just have to take the next exit to babyland for a few days.
Here are a couple of bibs I did for some friends of mine who are having a little girl in Feb.! Pretty stinkin' cute!(Yep-that's me patting myself on the back, folks!)
Makes you wanna go get yourself knocked up, eh? Haha, alright... NOTHING is THAT cute!
