24. I'm craving a trip back to New York.
25. I sometimes speak to my nieces and nephews in a british accent to confuse them/make them giggle. I'm pretty sure they think I'm nuts.

Have a fantastic weekend, y'all!

My hands are small, I know...

Align Center

...but they're not yours, they are my own- and I am never broken.

So I will get down on my knees, and I will pray...

Someone in my life is going through a rough time. If you know anything about me, you know that it may as well be happening to me, because my feelings are right there on the line with their's. This person is very important to me- so I will be keeping their identity and problem quiet. Please just send a prayer out to them. It doesn't have to be extraordinary... "Lord, please be with Lacey's loved one during this rough time and help to show them the way. Amen.", will do. He'll know what you mean.

While you're at it, my sweet friend Katie's apartment complex caught fire and she is unable to recover MANY of her belongings. So far, people have been stepping up and helping and dealing with the insurance(she had renter's- AMEN!)has been freakishly lovely. Please pray that the next few weeks of changes(New EVERYTHING) go smoothly for her. New is sometimes fun, but we all know that it can also be scary.

Nie could use some prayers as well... many changes happening all around her. Go see how much prayer has helped her so far :) She's doing great! Baby steps...

HoOkEd

My first episode of the 13th season of The Bachelor
I'm really not sure what episode number this is ... but it's 1 for me!
She looked really familiar. I felt like I had seen her before, so I googled her and saw that she's from Dallas.(I'm pretty sure they flash that under their names everytime they do an interview... but I sew while I "watch" TV, so I just get glimpses every now and then!) That's when it clicked that she was on that Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Making the Team show. I loved that show! I like her even though she got a little teary tonight(which makes me cringe)... anyway,

I think she'll take the cake.

Some of these girls are FREAKS and they are openly flying their freak flags. I am easily embarassed for other people, and I can't tell you how many times I've blushed or put my head in my hands for these stupid girls. Like, the crying chick(Nikki). What's up with that? "I want a baby! I'm a control freak. I want to be a "we"." Aghhh, even I'm running and she's not coming after me!

I'm writing this post as Jason is dancing with her, but I'm hoping she goes home at the end of this date. Not because I HATE her, but because I dislike her personality with all of my being. Haha. ((WOAH, WOAH, WOAH... did she just say, "Stephanie had her chance and her husband died?")) I don't feel bad about saying I don't like her anymore. What a heartless biatch.

Na Na Na Na

Na Na Na Na

Hey Hey Hey

GOODBYE.

I Love You

I Love You... Wanna Make Out?

Today, I woke up in a great mood! My beloved friend and houseguest headed out today and I'm about to accomplish all kinds of things I've been putting off since he's been here. OH HAPPY DAY! I get to scratch things off of a list! That is one of my favorite things to do :)

I crawled out of bed and slipped into a few of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. Swiped on my favorite lip balm and placed my computer on my lap to buy myself somethin' purdy. A photo album(you'll see it in a second, hold your horses!) Now I'm off to accomplish some of the things on my list that keeps growing and growing!
Here are a few of the things I've talked about that came together to make my day lovely :)

I decided long ago that I look silly in real lipstick and have searched high and low for a tinted lip balm that would suit me. I'm talking years, people. A few weeks ago I came across this Nivea Passion fruit flavored tinted balm... and I CAN'T GET ENOUGH! I feel the need to go buy 10 of them incase they discontinue them! My favorite beauty products always get discontinued... ERGHH. SO, go buy some so that I can continue to buy it for years to come! Muahaha! No, seriously... you'll love it too :) *I don't get paid to talk about this stuff, y'all! I just want to let you in on the goodness!*

My LBD. I have multiple little black dresses in my closet, but my favorite is one identical to this one. It's a NY&Co. dress, but I got it from Ross for $12 :) Oh, Ross... How I LOVE thee. I wear it with heels, flip flops, boots, thick belts, cardigans, flower pins... so many ways to go with it!

Ahh, black slouchy boots. I heart my black slouchies! I slip these on when i want to look cute without really trying all that hard. I love them with my purple sweater dress and black tights and also with my lbd(above), red belt and silver cardigan.

Writer's Worksh...ZzzzzzzzzzzzZ...

Writer's Workshop: Share the best picture you took last month and explain why it's your favorite.

I chose the picture prompt because I had a seriously long day(on top of being sick) and am exhausted! I'm laying in bed and it's only 10! That's saying something for me! I usually don't hit the pillow until 3am.

Best picture I took last month:

She's so Hollywood :) I don't think I have to explain why this picture is FABULOUS! You better work it, Doll face!

I'm so tired I didn't really write anything at all. Not so much of a writer's workshop... sorry. But seriously, what are you gonna do about it?! Tehehe!

Sweetdreams Lovies!

Go see Kat, her's will be better than mine.

Drop it like it's Hot

FrIeNdS
"House Guest" Brandon & I
Ergh, I didn't feel well today. I was fighting off a fever most of the day & feeling bad that I couldn't hang out with my house guest.(YES, he's still here.) I actually quarantined myself to my bedroom because I don't want to risk getting him sick. He's going to dive school in Chicago in a few days and going into that with a cold & fever would really suck. My pictures today are of a card that Brandon(house guest) made me about 8 years ago when I was apparently sick. I used to call him Turtle boy, because he reminded me of this skater cartoon by the same name. NICE, I know. That's how I roll. I actually hated Brandon when we first met... he drove me insane. He still kind of does, I just find it a little funnier now! Anyway, I think the card is so cute! It's very true to our friendship. A little nice, a little funny, a little weird. Hopefully seeing my old school card will do the trick and make me feel all better ;)

I danced for about 12 years and was on the dance team, so Brandon would always tell me he was going to show me how to "wobblety wobblety, drop drop it like it's hot". Goof Ball. He showed me the other night while we were out.

Haha! Classy, I know.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Today I was laying around having a lovely(lazy) Sunday, when I decided to check my email for no apparent reason. I had an etsy conversation email notice, so I clicked in thinking it was an order or question about an item. Uhhhm, nope. It was a writer for The Times Picayune(it's the big paper in my area) wondering if she could drop my shop name and a photo of one of my items in a piece she's doing on locally made baby shower gifts. Why, YES... YES YOU CAN. I'm pretty sure I jumped up and started doing the cabbage patch at that point! It's quite pricey to take out an add in that paper, so I feel like I just nabbed myself a bit of free press! Whoot Whoot! Free is my favorite.
However, I now feel the need to list more items in my shop which means this week is going to be crazy busy with creative goodness. I'm still wandering down my gypsy road... I just have to take the next exit to babyland for a few days.
Here are a couple of bibs I did for some friends of mine who are having a little girl in Feb.! Pretty stinkin' cute!(Yep-that's me patting myself on the back, folks!)
Makes you wanna go get yourself knocked up, eh? Haha, alright... NOTHING is THAT cute!

Honest Crap

Kim at The Antisdal Abstract gave me this award a while back and I JUST realized it... whoopsie! The switching of blog addreses got me a little screwed up. Anyway, here goes!

Kim said she had no idea what this award means... therefore, neither do I! She, much like myself thought it was the "honest crap" award when she saw it floating around on different blogs. Honest Crap would probably describe what goes on around here a little better anyway!
I'm supposed to list ten random things about myself & then pass the award along to some other peeps.
1.) I'm five feet two and a half inches tall.(5'2 1/2" looked confusing, so I typed it out for you.) I always wonder how tall people are when you don't see them in person.(Like Jessica Simpson, I thought she was tall until I read an article that said she's 5'3")
2.) I played a Hot Box girl in my High School's Senior Play, Guys and Dolls. I look really stupid with bleach blonde hair.
3.) I'm pretty sure I suffer with a slight case of insomnia. Seriously.
4.) I quite liked The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I read a few people's blogs who saw it and thought it was too long, depressing, boring...etc. But I thought it was lovely and entertaining!
5.) I don't care for pork, steak or hamburgers that are thicker than the kids burger from Sonic! Basically... I eat a lot of chicken and fish.(Oh! & once a week I go have mexican food with my Sis!)
6.) I have every season of Gilmore Girls on DVD. I find it witty and smart, which is a combo you don't come across too often in a one hour show.
7.) I've never felt compelled to smoke. I think it would break my Mom's heart... oh yeah, and it's horrible for you!
8.) I think dresses are just as comfortable as jeans.
9.) I'm not sure I'll ever LOVE my body.
10.) I just got an order for a very famous football players newborn baby. My brother in law does PR for his team and asked if I could make him some things. Pretty cool, eh?
I think everyone has gotten this award... but I'll pick a few anyway!

Wordful Wednesday: Nugget Love

Wordful Wednesday: Nugget Update
with Angie at Seven Clown Circus
Doll Face is begining to cuddle. It is just the absolute sweetest feeling when her little arms wrap around me. She's also doing lots of cooing, smiling & giggling! She is such a sweet baby :) I just can't get enough!

Squishy is doing a lot of smiling lately too! She is getting so big! My brother snapped this picture of her grinning while I was telling her how pretty she is. Hehe, girls like hearing how gorgeous they are at EVERY age!

And the Monkey Man? Well, he is living up to his nickname more than ever! The kid is truly a monkey. He was handed a few marshmallows to munch on and as he was putting one in his mouth, he got a litte off track and ended up with one stuck to his cheek. We giggled and the next thing we knew, he was sticking them all over his face! What a goober!
I sure do love these babies :o)

More random than you

I'm about to be random, so hang on.

1) I have a friend in town who is staying with me. He joined the Navy after high school and has been in San Diego doing Navy things(you know? haha) since then. He's hilarious and kind of ridiculous and I'm enjoying having him around again... but it's kind of exhausting as well! I didn't even spend the full day with him and feel tired! I think it's just feeling the need to entertain constantly. Yawnnnnn.

2) I think some of my girlfriends may have found ye old bloggy here. I saw two familiar locations within a few hours of one another on my "Where did you come from?" box. So, if you're there... TRL style shout out to my favorite bitches! Wooooooooooooooo! It always weirds me out when I see a familiar location come across though. Anyone else feel that way? It's all fine and dandy because I don't have much to hide that I would be saying around these parts... but still!

3) With all of these blog award things going on, it made me wonder what my blog would be categorized under? I have no idea! When I started out it was to help promote my shop, then soon enough people were just stopping by for the fun of it... so I got a little more personal. THEN it became a form of therapy for me- free therapy is the best therapy, my friend. Now, it's just a mish-mash of happenings. Whatever, I don't need a category! It just made me wonder...

4) Now that my closet is cleaned out I seriously need to finish my bedroom. Then what will I turn my attention to? I am the kind of person who always likes to be doing something, changing something, fixing something! It gets expensive though! I need to throw all of that creativity into my work.

5) I've been so busy lately... I need to take time to visit friends. I miss them all. Makes me sad :(

6) Personal reminder: Call that dress shop in TN and give them your measurements for your bridesmaid dress! (I know if I type this out, it will stick in my head and I'll finally do it!)

Closet cLeAn Up!

I DID IT!
I sorted. I cleaned. I dusted. I rearranged. I de-cluttered. I purged.
I'M DONE!
Here's how it all went down:

Uhm... it's A LOT of pictures. Scroll away!

Poor Doll Face thought she was going to get lost in all that crap!

This rubbermaid "dresser" happened to fit under the desk I already had... so I went with it. At this point I had just pulled everything out and sorted my fabric into the three drawers. Boy fabric, Girl fabric & Scraps.

Remember the crack I made about you guys showing up at my house with Dymo label makers? Guess who got themselves one & went to town with it? No, not Regis Philbin. That was a weird guess. It's ME!
Then I remembered that this table has a little leaf & it made more sense to pull the other rubber made drawers out of the corner(where they weren't really accessible) and put it under the leaf! (I removed the top drawer because the arm that holds up the leaf was in the way.) Once I got to this point I sat in my chair and staired at it for about an hour. I. WAS. BEAT.

Day 2 of my closet clean up:

I needed to make those ugly plastic drawers look pretty! (I emailed both of the people about the desks I posted pictures of, but neither emailed me back. They may have already sold them, I don't know? Anyway, I didn't have time to go looking for anything else. That closet was making me ill, y'all.) Anyway! Carrie told me she put scrapbook paper on the front of her plastic drawers to hide the mess inside & that idea sounded peachy to me! I substituted scrapbook paper with wrapping paper since my drawers are big!

I cut out the shape of the drawer and taped it to the inside(so it doesn't get torn and funky)!

It still looked a little naked, so I cut some thick grosgrain ribbon, glued the edges down & hot glued it onto the top edges of the drawers. Once I finished that, I could see the finish line in sight! I cleaned up and began placing everything where I wanted it.

I put the jewelry board on the right wall. It fit perfect! Isn't it cute? I made it a few years back when I was having a jewelry organization melt down. I actually own the shoes, necklace & purse that I painted on there :)
I stuffed all of my shoes back into my hanging bags & pushed them in the left corner. They don't look neat in the bags because almost every slot has 2 pairs in it! I started to count them and stopped at 40.. I have a problem.

Anyway, are you ready for it?! The big TA-DAA!?

BEFORE:

AFTER:
Aghh, much better! Don't the drawers look great? I'm pretty pleased for $20(I already owned the wrapping paper!) and minimal work! I already had this cork board covered in white fabric to take pictures of my items on & decided to hang it in the back of the closet because it just looked nakey back there! I hung some of my items(finished & unfinished) up there and used punch out letters to write out my name...just for a splash of fun! I also thought a dry erase board would come in handy to write my orders out on when they come in! My old one was funky, so I grabbed an old frame and stuck some scrapbook paper in it! A free dry-erase "board"... easy as pie! I also used the wrapping paper technique on my desktop drawers & paper/book holder.

YAYYYY! All done! Waking up in the morning to a clean closet is going to be LOVELY! Thanks for the motivation!! :)

If there were an award for giving your readers a panic attack...

I WOULD SO WIN.
Wow. I seemed to have freaked my poor little readers out! You have all inspired me to get off my rump and rectify this situation ASAP! As in... this weekend! I think I HAVE to before 8-10 women from all over the country show up on my doorstep with Dymo label makers and boxes!
So, I've been thinking I would really like a new desk with some type of storage to put in my closet. I'd like it to look nice so I can keep my closet doors open without feeling ashamed! I hopped on Craigslist tonight to see what the people in my area have to offer. I found two desks I may be interested in. Take a look-see!

This one looks like it would be super functional for me. I like the filing cabinet to put my fabrics in. I'd like to seperate them into boy fabrics and girl fabrics... so two is fine. It's $25

This one is a little more my style though and it's nice that I could use it elsewhere when I move and have more room. I would paint it black though! The bottom of one of the drawers is falling out and would need to be repaired(which is easy)... but still more work. I'm also not sure about the size of the drawers. May be a little on the small side, right? This is part of a set(comes with head and footboard to match-which I don't need) for $75. I don't know if they'd sell it seperately for me or not?

I may end up going with the first one b/c it seems like less work and better organization.

As far as storage for my shoes goes... I actually do have 2 hanging shoe bags pushed off to one side that you can't see in the pictures. I like shoes... I'm pretty sure you guys have noticed if you come here often!

Soooo... come back on Monday and see what progress I've made! I promise SOMETHING will be done!

((Update: Apparently neither of the people selling these things on craigslist wanted to get rid of them... they didn't email me back. OHHHH Well. I'm improvising!))

Writer's Workshop: Coming Out Of The Closet

Writer's Workshop with Mama Kat
Describe your latest obsession
I'm about to show you something REALLY scary, people. I am only showing you this because it is my only current obsession, and none of the other prompts were working for me! So, are you ready? Just remember... I warned you.

You're thinking, "Awesome, Lacey. Your latest obsession is a pile of crap?"
Uhmmm... NO. Well, Kind of. This is actually my closet.(If you're wondering where all of my clothes are... they're in my other closet. 2 closets=Lucky, I know!)

These pictures were taken a while back and I'm ashamed to say it looks way worse now. Anyway, it's driving me insane! That computer has a virus and I don't use it anymore, I just need to get some pictures off of it before I get rid of it. This closet stores my shoes, purses, jewelry(it's all hanging on that cork board on the back wall), fabric and was once my office. That last picture is the first thing I see when I wake up... ICK. So each day I start out thinking of how to organize everything to fit in there and have it function as I wish. Do you all have any great organizing and storage tips for me? Remember, the desk top computer will no longer be in the picture! He's a goner. I think my biggest concern is organizing and storing my fabric better. Right now it is stacked in a corner and I also have some in a hanging sweater bag.(It seemed like a good idea, but I have too much fabric and it's too heavy for the bag!)
I've got to get this taken care of! It's weighing on me!
(I'm sorry this is such a boring post, but I really need ideas and help!)

& Holy Cow... did you hear the fantastic news? Nie is taking over her blog again on January 16th! I'm pretty sure The Nie Nie Dialogues will become an obsession again, which is why I mention it! I need some new Nie in my life! I've read all her old posts multiple times, and am so ready! I'm just so glad she's home and able to see her children and Mr. Nielsen again! God is pretty great...

Cockatoo

I was wandering along through Hobby Lobby's 80% off Christmas section when I came across a large aligator type clip with feathers attached to it. I had no idea what in the world I would do with it, but decided for 50 cents I could figure that out later! Surely, it will look fabulous clipped to the side of a frame or top of a storage basket... something, right? Well, it didn't take long for me to figure out where my favorite location for my feather clip was... atop my niece's little head! 50 cents got me a good 15 minutes of giggles and pictures! Worth every 50 of those cents!
Doesn't she look like a big ol' cockatoo? Don't worry, we wouldn't actually take her out of the house with this big goofy thing on her head!
Though if Suri Cruise wore it, it would be ALL the rage. (Just like those awful boyfriend jeans her Mom has been wearing... I just heard on some entertainment news show that they are going to be popular this year. EW. Not on this booty they're not!

Hot Plate

When a waiter brings you a hot plate and tells you not to touch it, what is the first thing you want to do? That's right... TOUCH IT. Just how hot could that plate be, hmmm?

the most exciting time about the whole hot plate thing is that moment right before you touch the plate. Because afterwards, you're just a moron with a burnt finger. Dinner is a lot more fun if your finger is not a throbbing mass of pain.

A shopping we will go...

I went shopping today :) I had gift cards that were burning a hole in my wallet... here were my favorite purchases!

This looks better on...
These are so cute & vintage-y
I got a pair of these in red... they match a necklace my Mom has from when she was a teenager! Can't wait to borrow it :)
Then I indulged in some supplies to lead me down my Gypsy Road! I can't wait to start playing around and see what happens! It will feel so nice to breathe some fresh air into my shop! Pictures to come once I put these supplies to use!

Wooooaahhhh GYPSY

Lately, I've been feeling like I have not been living up to my crafty potential. Ever felt that way? I think it's because when I started Lacey in the Sky, I pinned myself in the baby corner. Maybe that was a mistake? I'm not sure. When I set up my shop, I thought that if I put too many different types of crafts in there, it would look like a garage sale. Mmmm Hmm, I said it. Now, let me also say that I love me a good garage sale! Anyway, lately I've been feeling a little differently about it. I think when set up correctly, these "a little bit of everything" shops can be quite lovely. How do you all feel? A few different sections... I'm not sure what yet. I just feel the need to create something new and different on a daily basis! I don't want to be stuck in my baby rut anymore! Of course I will continue to cater to the babes, I'd just like to float around a little... like a gypsy. A craft gypsy! Doesn't sound as badass as it did in my head.

Fleetwood Mac cooled it up for me ; )

...Gimme Gimme Gimme some feedback...
