GOOD QUESTION, my friend.
I'm doing a joint gift for my Mom and Dad this year... it's going to be framed silhouettes of all of their grandchildren, so I got off easy on that one. I don't think I'll be doing anything handmade
for WG for Christmas... I've already made him stuff. & my siblings and I draw names & I got my sister... so I don't have to worry about my brother! Easy Christmas for me! However, I do have a few ideas for you!

The day before Thanksgiving I woke up with a full blown cold, topped off with nausea. It was awesome to say the very least. I spent the entire day in bed & missed going to Chuck E. Cheese with my family for my niece's birthday. Thanksgiving brought on another day of illness and lunch with the family. That evening I packed some clothes, some food for WG & hit the road. We spent the evening curled on the couch and in bed... both sick. The drowsies took me over & the coughs took over WG. Poor guy was up at 4:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Nooootttt me, I slept from 12am-12pm. That's right. You heard me. NO SHAME.I did manage to get out of the house today to grab some medicine for the both of us and some food to cook later. Big days for us over here! It's like a competition of who can be more pathetically sick. I think I win. Just because I do.
Most of you were out wheelin' and dealin' today! Ya' know, I think I MIGHT be interested in going next year just for the experience... I don't know?
Depends on how many crazy pills I take the day before.

This year I'm intent on MAKING as many Christmas presents as possible. Some things may need to be bought, such as frames for silhouettes I plan to make for some people... but I def. plan on finding them on sale or at a seriously discounted price from Marshalls or TJX.
I'll be making: baby dresses, a skirt, aprons, tea towels, silhouettes, tees, chalk board bubbles &&& the project I'll be sharing with y'all on Tuesday Dec. 1st for the Holiday How To!

Monday's Mishap

Hey Hey Heeyyy people!

Thanks for all of your sweet words on Friday. I was in a bit of a funk but am A-OK now, thanks!
Well, cept for this...
Mmmm hmm, notice that awesome blackish-blue tint my ring finger has?
Yah, that's not a shadow.
I couldn't get a very good picture of it b/c the flash kept washing it out... (that sucker is a lovely shade that just can't be expressed on film) so I went webcam style on ya'.
Still doesn't do it justice.
You're probably thinking, "Oh slamming your finger in the door SUUUCCKKS." & yeah, you're right... except I didn't do that. THAT'S TOO NORMAL for me.
As I was heading home from WG's today, I stopped to fill up my tank(you tend to do a lot of this when your boyfriend lives an hour and a half away) and SOMEHOW when I pressed the lever to pop open my gas door, my ring finger lingered a bit and when i pulled my hand up from the button, my finger was snapped into the darn thing.

Only I can manage these kinds of things. I blow my own mind.
I wondered for a moment if part of my finger was going to be missing when I pushed the lever down again to pull my hand out, it hurt so badly. SO bad so, that I couldn't even manage to spit out any expletives. I sat in my car and felt tears fill up in my eyes. I felt like a ninny butt, but it seriously hurt. By the time my tank was half full, my finger tip was swollen to double it's normal size & beginning to turn purple.

Sooo yeah, don't do that, mmmkay? I did it for you, told you all about it...
so there's just no need for you to go there.

When Bloggers Invade

Walking slowly, I watch my green and white Asics take the familiar steps down the hall. I see that cute freshman girl who is always so sweet to me. I wonder WHY she's always SO sweet to me? I assume she's probably trying to hook up with my boyfriend. I smile at her from afar... kill 'em with kindness, I always say. I pass my Calculus teacher & smile again. Kill 'em with kindness & pray your grade goes up to a B, I always say. :/

I smell plumeria body spray and hear chit chat on top of chit chat. I open my locker, pull out my pom's & change into practice clothes. My friend Lauren calls me "Maria Tortilla" for reasons I'm not quite sure of, but love. She is singing "Maria Tortilla, she reminds me of West Side Story" to me as we stretch. We laugh and do latin dance moves to our first positions... the song begins. As I'm spinning out of a double pirouette, I take the step out to do a split leap & standing in front of me, all up in my split leaping area is...

At this point, I realize this is all a dream and I'm not really back in high school at dance practice. When I woke up, I was all... "Seriously, I've got to stop blogging so much." & That next week I had some of my gals fill in for me. You people GET INTO MY HEAD! When I told Kathy that she was haunting my dreams, she was pretty stoked. Seriously... all, "Sweet, I'm making it into dreams now!" and such. You know how she is. ;)

This is life before you know who you're gonna be... Fifteen.

My best friend and I were hanging out on a boring Friday night in the year 2000.
IN THE YEAAAAARRRR TWO THOUSAAAAAAND
IN THE YEAAAAARRRR TWO THOUSAAAAAAND...
(couldn't pass it up, right?)
We did what any normal 15 year olds would do when boredom struck.
Rent chick flicks, order pizza, paint our nails and talk about boys. DUH.
Never one to pay a delivery fee, we hopped in the car with my Mom and headed to Dominos drive through window.
We pulled up and waited a few minutes until finally a young guy came to the window and asked for the name the order was under...
I leaned over my Mom and said, "Lacey"
(Ya know... had to get a good look at the guy and see if he was a hottie or a nottie. There was potential.)
He nodded his head, closed the window & headed to the back to get our pizza.
I turned around to chat with my friend in the backseat, when I heard the guy open the window...
"Can I get your phone number?" he asked, routinely, to my Mom.
And then, as she put her hand to her chest & blushed, my Mom said the most hilarious/horrifying thing she could have said in that moment.
"Well... I'm flattered but I think you're a little young for me."

Sickness, Super Sales & Jamie Lynn Spears?

My weekend sucked.
I was sick.
I even felt to too bad to straighten my hair.
I wore it in braided pig tails.
I don't think I've EVER worn my hair in braided pig tails.
I felt like a kid,
But it looked kind of cute.

I took a picture for you...

But couldn't resist the urge to use the end of my pig tail as a stache.
Sorry.
I am really liking my new eye makeup though.
(Just seeing it in the pic. made me think about it... you know I'm random, whatever.)

Too lazy to get up and figure out what the name of it is right now.
The best part of my sucky weekend was napping for 2 whole hours
on Sunday with my 2 year old nephew snuggled up against me.
Pure perfection.
The 2nd best was breaking out of bed long enough
to sneak to the mall to grab Chick-fil-a
& hitting the motherload of sales at Rue21 by shear happy accident.
I got 2 super cute dresses, a top, a belt & a bracelet for $20.
I could've just spit I was so happy.
(I've always wanted to say that!)
So that was that.
My crappy weekend riddled with little happy moments.

& literally as I was writing this post, I get a message from my new adorable(&local!!!) friend "Kora" saying she thinks I resemble Jamie Lynn Spears! Ahahahha, made me giggle. This is the first time I've ever heard this & I've gotta say, I thought she was nuts at first. Seriously? Jamie Lynn Spears? But I guess we do kind of have similar features?

What attracts you to a guy?
A nice smile. ((& with my boyfriend now... I was attracted to him b/c of the way he looked at me. He didn't look me up and down... he really LOOKED at me. It was different & nice. Felt genuine. He may have been thinking dirty thoughts, but he LOOKED genuine.))

What have been some of the most difficult times in your life?
Much of my childhood was riddled with a severe anxiety disorder.
I still battle it, but I'm able to control it(or handle it, rather)better as an adult than as a child.
I think the worst point was 4th grade after my favorite Aunt passed away... my anxiety peaked that year.
& Then in college it got pretty bad.

What do you like the most about yourself?
I like the way I love. I love with everything I have. Or I try my very best at least.

Dear Santa,

After much thinking about this(and many episodes of What Not To Wear & Oprah), I think maybe i need to go down to a 32 instead of a 34. Gonna have to give that a whirl. When measured I'm a 32... so, it seems right, right? It's just hard to find a 32 in anything other than an A. Any of you ever worked at VS or a lingerie shop and have some input for me?Oh yeah... and i want more moments that make me swoon.

Tonight(it's Tuesday still), WG & I ran to Pet Smart, ate some Chili's(who doesn't love an all day/every day two for one drink special? Nobody, that's who.) and then we came home(his) & cuddled and watched tv. He finally pulled the tv back out of his closet and it's kind of heavenly, no lie. It's been a good night :)

In other news, WG is going to become a rapper so he can say some obscene shit and get paid for it.

Oh & I got a couple of commenters wanting to know how I did the little tacked note on yesterday's post, so listen listen here!
I googled "loose leaf paper", searched the images and happened to see the tacked note. Saved it. Loaded it into picnic.com (you could use photobucket or photoshop) and put my text on there. Saved & posted! & Taaa Daaa! So no, it wasn't a cool program or anything... just had to do a few search & saves :)

Looking Out On The Morning Rain...

I used to feel so uninspired.

Spent my Monday painting as planned...but my mood took a funky turn in the afternoon and it totally ruined my painting mojo.
I realized today that I am easily affected by others.
Specifically, others moods.
My mood can change from 11 years old and just met JTT excited to, well, BAD in a matter of seconds when I'm around someone who's in a funk.
Stop bringin' me down, gahhhh.

Anyway, my funky mood made me lose all the inspiration I had floating around in my brain.
BUMMER.
(I did doodle (what do you called doodling when you do it with a paint brush?) a cartoon of myself while i sat there waiting for creativity to strike... she came out sort of cute!)I also took a few pictures of my gorgeous niece Doll Face modeling one of my dresses.
She rocked it. She actually just took professional pictures in this dress, and I can't lie...
that makes my heart swoon. :)
I've been creating things for about a year and a half now & it just never gets old to see someone using or displaying something I've made. I once saw a little girl wearing a bib I'd made(it was given to her as a gift... I didn't know her) and I literally jumped up and down, grabbed my friend's arm and was like, "Holy crap! I MADE THAT!" Haha, love love love.

In other news, there's a freaking tropical storm making it's way through the Gulf of Mexico right now. I'd like to take a moment to write an open letter to Ida.
I've got your back FL, I've got your back.

((Have any of you heard the Lily Allen song "F you very much"? Oh my goodness, vulgar... in the cutest way possible. How is that even possible? I admit it lifted my funk a bit earlier, just giggling at it & dancing around :) ))

Lazy Bones

Wedding Guy came and stayed with me Friday & Saturday. We literally only left the house, couch and bed for food. Well, I lie. At one point my body was sick of being horizontal, so I decided to do some head stands.... (duh, what else?) & it made WG wonder if he could do a head stand. So there we were in the middle of my living room, taking turns doing head stands. It's lovely having someone to be a weirdo with. Some weekends we go, go, go... so it's nice to have a "boring" one every once in a while.

The LSU game...Gah, it was so disappointing, right Summer B.? Booo Alabama. BOO.
(Sorry Bama fans... I just can't sit beside you on the bus today. We'll be okay again tomorrow.)
But woah, woah... How about them Saints? Black and Gold, people... Black and Gold :)

I loved having WG here. I love that I now have memories of him in my space, you know?

Remember how I posted about that tee yesterday?(no? scroll down.) Well, moments before I clicked "buy" I decided "I COULD just make it myself." So I did. I don't like it quite as much... but for $5, I can't complain! It did take me a while to get that arch just right, though.(Did that count as complaining? sorry...)
I'll prob. just wear it to work out in anyway.

Do you know how difficult it was to just take that picture? There are 3 others before that where I look RIDICULOUS. Not like it would be the first time you'd see me doing somethin' stupid over here, but whatev.

So, the last few days I have been battling a cold.
(Felt amazingly great today, so glad!)
I've been helping my sister out this week by keeping my niece from 6:45-Noonish usually.
Not fun when you're sick, ya know?
You poor Mom's... I'll know your pain oneday.
But I discovered something that may just change my life.
Web cam babysitting.
Seriously.
Kids LOVE just looking at themselves in the mirror, so imagine their delight when they can watch their every move on the computer screen. They think they're watching a live movie or something.
